Advantages: Build points, even if you don't qualify
Disadvantages: It's another survey site.
Global Test Market is quite a decent survey site. At first glance it may not appear to offer very good value for your time, however I'll try and explain that that isn't the case, in my opinion. In a new twist for me I'm going to do my review backwards.
How do you get paid
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ok, lets start with the important things. You get sent a cheque once you reach 1000 points, and put in a request for payment. This is simply done through their website http://www.globaltestmarket.com/gtm/gtm/login.php. You will receive your cheque generally in 6-8 weeks but if you haven't received it by 9 weeks then write to them and they'll check out what has happened. This happened to me recently, and as the cheque production is outsourced they warned me it could be a while, plus they'd been having a bit of fraud recently where people had been requesting cheques saying they never received them, but then cashing both when the second one arrived.
I received my new cheque a couple of weeks after my query had been dealt with, which itself took about a week.
So it sounds like a long time waiting for payments, but since my initial request I have built up 830 points and will soon be requesting another cheque, which will be my fifth since joining.
So what are points worth
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, 1000 points are worth 50 dollars, essentially about 25 quid in todays currently climate, however as far as I'm aware the points don't expire so you could wait and see if rates improve. I think my first cheque was over 30 quid so they do keep up with rate changes.
How do I get points
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So you want to get 1000 points, surveys are the main way currently to do this, you do get 20 points for introducing a friend but this is a bit rubbish.
Most surveys you are sent will be for a minimum of 5 points, which is 25 cents or about 13p. Not bad seeing as you get this if you answer the initial couple of questions but don't qualify. If you do complete the survey you generally get between 35 and 75 points which is pretty good as 75 points is almost £2. Generally surveys average about 15 minutes which is a good average compared to some sites.
The surveys are about a variety of categories but the site has recently joined up with Songpeople and is offering regular music surveys, where you rate current songs. This pays 75 points if you qualify and gives you a massive boost towards the 1000 target.
Failing that it only takes 200 failed survey attempts to get to the 1000 points. Not bad when you consider sites like Global Opinion Panels which give you £5 for 9000 points and surveys are sometimes worth 60 points, and that's for completing them.
GTM Affiliate
~~~~~~~~
You can also earn money by being an affiliate. So as usual you stick a banner on your site and you can earn $1 for each person who joins. Which is much better than just simply referring someone.
Summary
~~~~~~
I like GTM and I will be doing it for a while to come yet. It's a good regular payer.
Summary: Regular surveys means points build up fairly quickly
