Advantages: You will receive emails when there is a survey available for you
Disadvantages: You do have to wait 6-8 wees for your cheque to arrive.
Global Test Market pays for completed online surveys. It works with a points system, with each point being worth $0.05, and you can claim for the cash once you've earned at least 1000 points. Global Test emails its members when there are surveys available and all you have to do is click on the link in the email, so it's really easy to access the surveys and you don't need to remember to keep checking the site.
Each survey is usually worth about 70-100 points if you complete it, and 5 points if you get screened out of the survey early on (screening out is simply where you don't fulfil the criteria they are looking for based on some information you have provided). This is better than most survey comanies in that you still get something for trying to complete a survey even if you do get screened out.
I usually find that I get to 1000 points every three months or so, and it's very easy to claim your cash (simply log in and the instructions will guide you through). The company will convert the US Dollars into British pounds based on the exchange rate at the time and you will get a cheque through the post approximately six weeks later (although it can take as long as eight weeks in some cases). I always claim my cash as soon as I hit 1000 points but you can always leave your points in there indefinitely so that you can claim a bigger sum at a later date.
You will only ever earn pocket money from Global test Market, but it's still nice to get a cheque for £30 every few months. I have had no problems with this company.
UPDATE DEC 2009
In the last couple of months this survey site has gone right downhill. They have scrapped the system that used to give you 5 points for every survey that you were screened out of, and now instead you get one entry into a sweepstake. This slows down the process considerably of getting to the requisite 1000 points.
I have also noticed a huge drop in survey invites. I used to get one or two a day, and now I am down to about one a week and most of those I get screened out of. Once I have reached my next 1000 point claim minimum, I think I will stop using Global Test Market.
I have changed my rating from 4 stars to 2 stars.
Summary: The website is easy to use and their surveys are always straightforward.
