“ Tour operator for Holidays to Turkey. „
Two years ago my fiance and I decided that we wanted a cheap and cheerful holiday to Turkey. The previous year we'd done a Thomson's Allocation On Arrival deal in Marmaris and it had worked out brilliantly which is why we decided to go back to Turkey. Unfortunately Thomson's didn't have a similar deal this time round and we were forced to look around more as we had a small budget. We ended up booking a week in Turunc with Goldtrail. The plane had a distinct air of antiquity, I felt like I'd travelled back in time! There was no in flight entertainment and we had no meals. Luckily the flight is only 4 hours, although it felt longer! The worst part of the flight was the hideous pleather seats that we literally slid out of when the plane landed! When we got on the transfer coach we were turfed out of the coach somewhere just outside Marmaris with little explanation, just that the coach didn't go to our hotel. We were hustled into a mini bus and taken over a mountain. What the brochure failed to mention was that Turunc was indeed near Marmaris and Icemeler, but you have to drive over a mountain (with typical Turkish road safety features i.e. no rails whatsoever!) to get there! The hotel was dreadful. It was called the Sunset Garden hotel and the 'garden' consisted of a couple of dead trees! The room was dirty, the main door would only close and lock with a struggle, the balcony door was worse. The bedroom door was supposed to have a window in it, but it was missing. Our view was of a dusty road and a few goats. The shower had never even heard of anything other than freezing cold water and we had to ask for it to be repared twice. There was only one member of staff who spoke broken English and none of them wanted to help us. The food was terrible, luckily we went self catering so we weren't stuck there for meals. We never saw or spoke to a rep until the day before we left when we rang the local office (with difficulty) to ask when, or indeed if, we would be picked up to go to the airport. They hadn't bothered to give us that information. When we returned home I sent a letter to the Goldtrail head office to complain about our holiday and the response was almost rude; all I wanted to hear was 'Sorry you didn't like it' but they didn't even pretend to be sorry, they basically told me to get over it and 'you can't expect that much from a third world country'! Well, Thomson's can manage it, why can't Goldtrail?! Since returning from our farce of a 'Holiday' everyone we've spoken to who has also been away with Goldtrail have said how awful it was and that they'll never use them again. I just wish that they'd told us before we went! I honestly don't know how they are still in business! We've now vowed to stick with Thomson's et al, even if it does cost a little more!

IT IS A VERY HARD PLACE TO FIND SO I SUGGEST THAT YOU GO TO MARMARIS AND THEN GET A TAXI. Very very dissapointed with whole experience.....could'nt wait to get back to UK. Arrived at hotel claiming to be 5*, well dissapointed as I would give it no more than a 2* rating. Dirty rooms, burnt out carpets, stained walls, stained bedding, no working loo, no working light bulb in loo, no mini bar, no internet, .............much more!! Having highlighted problems with rep, took her 3 days to acknowledge as she was too busy with those spending money with her booking tours......by the way you can get the same tours outside of hotel for half the price! Day 4, we changed our room to nothing better, however least the loo worked! Having put us through this misery for first few days, the Goldtrail Rep would not even consider a waiver of teh aircon (which you have to pay £25 weekly for), or consider an extension of the room at chckout date for only 1/2 Hour....not a very accomodating hotel and a very unhelpful, very, unprofessional and arrogant goldtrail rep.
Goldtrail Holidays are a tour operator that specialise in holidays that are going to Turkey. If you are booking online or not with a well knwon tour operator you more than likely will find Goldtrail as your tour operator for your holiday. When we initially booked our holiday it was until after we had booked with Freedom Direct that we realised that Goldtrial were going to the tour operator for our holiday. We had looked at several review sites, particular the likes of holiday watchdog and they had not got a good reputation to start with at all with the majority slating them, so we were not too impressed to start with. The hotel that we had booked had no reviews on it, initially we were looking for another hotel however the flight had gone so they gave us a website to take a look at and it did display a rather nice hotel, so we decided to book it. Waiting a week later, we went on review sites again andfound terrible reviews on this particular hotel including dodgy electrics, flooded bathrooms, unclean and much to my dislike that the staff were thieves and many people had belongings that had been stolen from the hotel. We contacted Goldtrail and they advised that we would not be able to swap our accommodation and that the could not do anything. If we cancelled our holiday we would lose everything so we decided to book another hotel nearly which gave us the choice of two upon arrival. Arriving at Bodrum airport we sawq the rep and instead of asking our names, she basically said their is another rep over their wearing the same clothes as me, ask her which I thought was extremely rude, and when we did ask the other rep, we were basically shuffled to a bus with a Turkish driver who did not speak English. We were not accompanied by a representative on any of the journeys to and from the resort. When we arrived at the hotel we should have been staying at, we showed the driver where we had booked as an alternative and he dropped us off around the corner. Under no circumstances did Goldtrail try and contact us, they had both of our telephone numbers, they didn't know that we had got on the mini bus and we hadn't checked in the hotel. They were missing two passengers in which arrived in Turkey but they couldn't account for. Since then many complaints have beenpassed to this tour operator and I am under the impression that they are currently being investigated with regards to the accommodations that they are sending people to in Turkey. Overall the hotel that we stayed in was clean and we came home with all our belongings not having to worry about whether our stuff was going to be stolen. I would never book a late booking again again to Turkey, I would make all my arrangements myself. One of the worse companies I have ever been with.
