Advantages: Simple and it works

I have always wanted to have a good and reliable calendar on my computer. When I only use one computer this was simple. I used Rainlendar, a very useful calendar, it also had a "to do" function and notes (planning to write a review some day about it). But when I have started to use my laptop, things got awkward. Because I was on the move a lot the problems appear. Part of my calendar notes ware on my stationary computer, part of it on my laptop. A mess I tell you. But then I came a cross Google calendar.
Interface is something that you need a couple of minutes to get use to. But from the on, it's walk in a park. You can see the calendar by day, weeks, months,... you simply click on the day you need to remember, you can select the hour or just the day. Up to you. Then you insert some information about the "thing" you have that day (may it be birthday or an appointment). You can chose when Gmail remind you (on that day or any other day or hour). It dose so, by sending you emails. The problem is that you need an internet connection otherwise you will not get the email. If you wont so see the appointments for the following week you also must log on Google calendar web page.
Application, that would look like a calendar and would be placed on your desktop, always synchronized with Google calendar would be wonderful to have. If you use Google desktop, this is possible, but for now there isn't any stand alone application. And that is an only minus.
