Google. The only word that probably makes it into my vocabulary nearly every single day, with the Google homepage search engine, to the ability to use Google maps to find out where to go and the question on everyone's lips when you are unable to think of someone's name or a nugget of information that is just on the tip of your tongue...Shall we just Google it?
In our modern society we are blessed with technology in every direction, from high powered cars to intelligent computer systems and some sort of robot or aid to help our every need. Then along came Google, a highly powered and genius search engine website which took off like a rocket to the moon and became one of the biggest, if not the BIGGEST search engine provider in the whole entire world.
It is both easy to use and aesthetically pleasing to look at, the search results are uniformly displayed with the appropriate sponsored links at the head of the page and the other pages ranging from most relevant to your search to those that mean nothing at all. In less than an entire second Google is able to search over a billion different sites scattered about in the far regions and crevasses that we call the Internet and bring them straight to your computer.
I personally use nothing other than Google as most other sites will simply not do in my quest for knowledge, either because they are not expansive enough or don't set the results out for my ease of access. Nor do they allow me to customise my own page of Google, known as my iGoogle page. I have the ability to prettify and manipulate this page and make it to my own specifications and needs, with a huge range of choices on what to include and what background I feel like having. This is perfect as it gives Google a personal touch and allows me to quickly scan what is relevant to me before performing my search.
And if that all wasn't enough for the population of the world they then went on to launch their own version of Internet Explorer, known as Google Chrome which proved to be extremely popular due to its speed and the ability to again add your own personal touches, making it much more relevant to you.
I also like that they change their logo from time to time when there is an event or a holiday that they think it worth their interest and the Google sign becomes a little homage to this particular event as it just adds an air of interest to the brand. I think the only moment they have messed up recently is when they introduced Google Streetview as some might say (and I think I kind of agree with them) that it is an invasion of privacy and I don't think we really need it as their maps are detailed enough.
Never will we forget those colourful little letters G O O G L and E that give us the opportunity to wield an enormous amount of power at just the click of a button and the tapping of some keys, what more could we ask for?
Summary: Is there anything Google doesn't know?
