Google began is 1996 as a project by Larry Page and Sergey Brin. During a research project they were doing at University they decided to create a search engine which ranked websites according to how many other websites linked to it. Before Google, search engines simply ranked sites based on the number of times the search term appeared on the website.

In January 2012 Google had a 66.2% share of the search engine market. Its closest rival was Bing- coming in at a much lower 15.2%...I googled this information. I did try and link the website to credit it but dooyoo doesnt allow words longer than 80 characters in length, sorry!

Since the start of Google the company has branched out in numerous areas, far to many to list down but this includes: socia network (Google+), Youtube, Maps (including streetview), translation and an email service.

Whenever i want to know an answer to something, find a recipe, find money making tips, find the lyrics to something anything I just go straight to google. I honestly wonder what I'd do without it. I think I even stumbled across dooyoo when using Google!

Im sure I'm not the only one to google my name, of course nothing personal came up, my name is apparantly common. My boyfriends name however lists his facebook profile as the first result, he was very pleased with this!

My favourite part of google is google maps, more specifically the street view. Im hopeless at reading maps,i find it hard to convert an live street with shops and other distinguishing marks into little lines.
Almost 2 years ago now I moved to my boyfriends hometown- 150 miles from my own. I didnt drive and I couldnt stand getting on buses where I didnt recognise where I was going- worried Id miss my stop and get stranded somewhere. I started to use google street view whenever I had an address for somewhere I needed to go. Id "walk" the entire way through google street view, writing down notes if i need to e.g "pass 2 bus stops, pass a church, take the turning opposite the pub" and taking the notes with me. This has helped me so much and I know my way a lot better around than I would without it- especially since my boyfriend sucks at giving directions and I suck at following them!

Google was a genuis idea on par (perhaps better) than facebook and I wish Id thought of it. One things for sure I'd be much too rich to be sat around writing reviews if I had!
