Advantages: Easy to use and good rewards
Disadvantages: Lots of competition can mean confusion
www.greasypalm.co.uk is a cash back website that offers the consumer varying amounts of money back on products or services that they link to through their website. These can range from anything from simple surveys and registrations to websites right through to buying huge TVs and holidays. Cash back is in the form of either a stated percentage or a set amount stated in the terms of that deal.
The registration process for Greasypalm is as simple as can be and amounts to nothing more that name, age and email. You fill in the rest any time before getting your first payment run, at which point you can choose to cash out in either a BACS transfer to your bank account, or be paid in Amazon Vouchers. The cash out system is pretty good for this line of web site and you basically get to find out if you are in the payment run and wait. Payment runs occur on the first of every month and you are paid 30 days in arrears, so if you qualify in January, you will be in March's payment run as the 30 days in arrears comes into effect. This also gives the site time to validate all the cashback you have earned.
On to the web layout itself. Greasypalm is quite a basic web site when you compare it to cashback rival Quidco, but it is simple to use and the heavy use of simple HTML text links works well and never leaves you feeling lost in information or navigation.
On the top you have a nice counter that is a running total of how much cashback users of the site have earned altogether. At the moment, this is just over £10,299,000 and counting. Alongside this is a search box for if you know the exact retailers name that you require. This works really well for comparing the cashback of Greasypalm with other rival sites to get you the best deal. You can also separate this down by category.
The top left navigation is your quicklinks area where you can look at your account in depth, log in and out, visit the most popular cashback offerings, separated by value and popularity by the user and you can also see the site news from there too. Simply clicking on home will present you with a screen telling you your total earnings and below that will be the sites top offers and relevant quicklinks. I particularly like the way it gives you a sort of mini inbox of deals that the site thinks you really should not miss.
The remainder of the left panel is all about the retailers and this list is seperated into categories ranging from arts and crafts right through to utility bills. Anything you can think of is more than likely in there somewhere and waiting to give you cash back on something you would be looking to buy anyway.
The main body panel is where the results of your chosen fields will go and the listings appear there. For example, should you choose to look to join an online casino. There will be a number of them appear in the results window and from there you can see the feedback of previous users (very helpful), how fast the cashback will hit your account on average and what exactly you have to do to achieve your cashback (very important).
The right hand panel is a hub for all the top latest deals, members news, including the top earners of the month, new retailers to Greasypalm and member specific deals that are actually, technically, available to all as you have to be a member to use the service.
The payment details screen is very good with clear guidelines on what words like "pending", "on hold" and "validated" actually mean to your money and when you can expect things to go through. You are really never left in any doubt what you have to do to use Greasypalm at all times.
I find Greasypalm to be very generous with its cashback. By this I mean that although things like William Hills Bookmakers offering £5 cashback elsewhere might be offering £10 through this site. Shopping around is best but it usually ends up with Greasypalm being one of, if not the, front runner.
I have never expected any problems with both the service, or the web site itself in the 6 months I have been on there. My withdrawals up to now have been substantial and prompt and I can't wait for my next one due this month. I have loved it that much that I have referred several friends and family to it and they are happy too. Of course, the £7 per referral I received was nice too!! The downtime is minimal too which is vital when money transactions are ongoing daily.
I highly recommend this as the premier cashback site.
Summary: I highly recommend this as the premier cashback site.

- 08/03/09 That is just 1 comparison though isn't it. I'm pretty sure I did review the experience I've had with them, hence the comment prior to yours. I'll re-visit later and see if there is anything I can add. Thanks for the feedback. Lisa |
