Good Offers but do your research...

Advantages: Good offers to be had.
Disadvantages: Can be mis-leading do your research.
I have been a Group on Member for a while now and have taken advantage of many of their deals.
Group on is a great website for hooking you up with various special offers with businesses in your area and nation wide. The offers range from hotel stays to haircuts to MOTs to website vouchers. There is a different deal in your city and nationwide everyday and each deal is only available for 24 hours. A deal only becomes active once enough people have requested the voucher and then "the deal is on". When you purchase a deal you are sent a voucher code that you can use within a determined period of time. There is also a referral system whereby if you refer a deal to a friend and they go on to buy you receive a £6 credit which is quite generous.
There are some very good deals to be had on Group On which can be used both in your local area and online. I purchased a £20 voucher for Albelli photo books for £5 - I used it to make a great photo book for my mam for Christmas. I have also purchased today's deal which was a £20 voucher for ASOS for £9. My mam purchased a voucher for a hairdresser in Newcastle and was very pleased with the whole thing - I also received a £6 credit for recommending it to her.
Do your research because sometimes all is not as it seems. The first time I noticed this was when I purchased a coupon for a local restaurant. I purchased a £30 voucher for £10 went on the restaurant website and thought wow I am going to struggle to spend all this. So I go to the restaurant and grab a table, I am greeted by the waiter and inform him that I have a Group On voucher. He brought out the menus and I noticed they were different from the menus other diners were looking at. Basically we were given a more limited menu with a different pricing structure that made it very easy to spend my £30. We did get a bit of a discount but it was no where near the 60% discount we were expecting.
Since then I have always been very cautious before purchasing a voucher. There have been many occasions when Group On have promised a 70% discount on a Hotel break. However when I have went on to the hotel website I have found that the price is actually the same, or the voucher discount is greatly overstated.
Group On is a good website and there are deals to be had. I would however urge people to do a bit of research before purchasing a voucher as the deal may not be as good as it seems.
Summary: A good discount voucher website but be sure to do your homework.
