Sugar and spice and all things nice. Apparently that's what my husband thinks of me and who could blame him. Well if I don't big myself up lets face it who else is going to do it for me!!! Bless him a bit misguided sometimes in the old buying gifts department (in the nicest possible way of course). He does however surpass himself on occasion and leaves me. Yes that's right Me. Speechless!!! A condition which if you actually knew me (and I'm sure my friends and colleagues would definitely agree is an almost impossibility to achieve). Isn't it hilarious when you review the multitude of gifts received from loved ones over the years. The ones that actually make you wonder what they were actually on at the time of purchasing them. Lets face it we can all admit to having received at least one disaster over the years. That dodgy garment, the weird beauty gadget, and possibly my worst ever an iron for mothers day, (in his defence though there was a beautiful bouquet in addition). Well as he works away from home quite often, hubby tends to send me gifts from some online retailer or other, as it is more convenient for him to do so thank heaven for the internet. Valentines Day was no exception this year and as the postman delivered yet another box I wondered what it could possibly be this time!!!!

I opened my parcel and to my sheer and utter delight stared down at a beautiful large love-heart shaped woven pink and red basket. On opening I found that it was filled to the absolute brim with the most delicious candy's and sweets and my all-time favourites choccies.... There was a personal note attached (for my eyes only sorry folks) and an icon on the top left of the card which stated that my parcel had arrived from handycandy.com. A company which I had not heard of previously. I was in sweetie heaven so much for being good and ever the health promotion advocate. I got and I know it's a vulgar turn of phrase"tore in" so to speak. This delicious basket of love contained heart lollies, juicy lips, love-hearts, cherry hearts, rolos, chololate bars, and so much more. Take a look at the site as it would fill up two pages listing everything contained within it. A mixture of retro and new sweets. Nearly 4kg in total. The basket was a lovely touch and I soon realised that once all the sweets where gone which lets face it in my family would not take long to achieve. I would still be left with a very pretty and useful storage box. Well I just had to go online and have a look at the other items that were offered by this company.

The website Handycandy.com is a sweet lovers paradise. It is exceptionally easy to navigate around and there is absolutely something for everyone here. The home page has a pink background which features current promotions, with Valentines Day over and done with for this year. The current offers are geared towards treats for Mothers day. It also features special offers and their top ten best selling items. There is a very handy sweet selector which features a multitude of choices from, hampers, tuck, boxes, jars of sweets, lollies, candies, and chocolates. There are so many different types to choose from. Just click on your favourite items and you are forwarded to another screen which shows you everything that they sell in that particular range. There is a search facility too which makes it even quicker to find the items that you require. They sell pretty much anything that you could possibly wish for that you would expect to find in a traditional British sweetshop. Sweets vary in price from a few pennies right up to forty or fifty pounds for large hampers. The love heart basket I recieved cost £34.99 (don't tell hubby I know this). In addition they also sell American candy, a pick and mix range which is great if you want to make up your own treat selection. You can select 250g 500g or an entire sweet jar. In addition they also have a super selection of sugar free sweets. I'm sure like me you really don't associate most sweets without sugar however (these are not the boring kind they have cola bottes, pineapple cubes and many more with the added promise of the range expanding quickly in the coming weeks and months). The company will also cater for wedding favours, party bags, and for corporate gifts too. You may purchase gift packaging and baskets separately and then choose what you would like to fill them with. If you choose too many sweets to fill the packaging chosen they will pack the excess separately. A nice touch with this site is that if you don't know what type of sweet to buy for someone you can provide a gift voucher instead. These come in denominations of 10, 20 and 50 pounds and can be supplied as an e-voucher or as a paper voucher which can be posted to the recipient. The site also operates a sweet club so you can purchase either a six month sweet hamper or tuck box subscription in which every month for six months handycandy will deliver a box of delicious treats to the lucky recipient.

Ordering on this website is very simple. Just create an account I did this and it took less than five minutes to do. You put in the usual address details user name and password. That's you done told you simple. You then choose the items that you wish to buy and pop them in your basket and click checkout. It gives you a shipping cost estimate at this point which is very handy. £6.99 for express delivery, £3.99 standard courier delivery and free with orders over £45. You will need to allow 3-5 working days for this option. You can also choose when you would like the item delivered this is only available for the special delivery courier option. You can also leave special delivery instructions for example leave with number 3 if out. There is a space for a personal message. This will be printed on a card for the recipient at least mine was. Finally pay and submit and you are done. You will then receive a confirmation email.

Overall a super website which is easy to navigate and sells some wonderful treats for all. I would recommend this and give a 5 star rating. Well worth the money in my opinion. Give it a try handycandy.com.
