Helium.comNewest Review: ... it is something of an anti-climax to say the least. The site has very complex pricing structures, but basically you get paid more if you write for more commercially viable sections, such as business and finance, where as creative writing pays basically nothing, and strangely, film and game reviews also garner very little, despite the fact that it must attract a lot of film and game ... more |

Helium is a website that is quite alluring because it promises to pay users based on comission, where they are paid per view of their page. However, this is a lot harder than it sounds, because I've submitted over 100 high-quality reviews to them and have made about $3 since. I enjoy writing for the site, but given that it has been touted as a high-grade money making alternative for starving writers, it is something of an anti-climax to say the least. I joined Helium a few weeks back after reading a review about it on here. The review seems quite favourable and it would provide a way to earn some more money from reviews I had already written. Signing up was quick and easy. After putting in the usual details and getting the confirmation email I was ready to go. My first impressions of the site weren't the best. It's layout and design just doesn't seem very welcoming, but I began looking around regardless. Navigating the site is easy and not so easy at the same time. All the different subject categories are listed on the right hand site, very easily accessible. However, once you ... Read the complete review

I've read a lot of reviews about helium.com. Some are positive, others not so. I thought I would join up anyway as I could post things that were already written and maybe make a little extra money. But I don't get how it works? I've tried and tried to understand the system but just can't. Helium.com is in some ways similar to ciao or dooyoo in that you can write reviews of things and get paid for the amount of reads and ratings they get. In addition, you can also jot down opinions on a variety of subjects in the hope that someone will be interested too. Then there are competitions and a marketplace where you can sell articles written on specific ... Read the complete review

In recent months I've been writing more for Helium.com which originally seemed like a way to recycle stuff I'd already written for dooyoo and ciao. It seemed to make sense if it was possible to get more money for work I've already done, I might as well do it, it was stupid not to really. Similar to a lot of sites out there it allows the users opinions and views to be published openly on the internet, a bit like a consumer review site meets a wikipedia sort of thing to be honest. It allowed people to write about almost anything, be it poetry or consumer reviews, video games cheats to sports biographies, short stories to cooking tips it was all here. Better yet, the ... Caveat: this review deals with Helium as a place to publish content and possibly earn some money, NOT with Helium as a source of information. I have to warn you that it is extremely long review, combining descriptive information, suggestions on how to deal with some aspects of Helium and review-like discussion of various aspects of its operation. If you wish to rate it down for it feel free to do so, I will understand why 4,500 words might not be helpful to somebody just looking for an overview. ===BASICS=== Helium is one of many portals devoted to publishing user generated content. Dooyoo and ciao are also such portals and probably ... Read the complete review
