Advantages: You can make loads of money
Disadvantages: very strictive to what topics you have to do
Helium is a website similar to CIAO and Dooyoo in that you get to express your opinion.
I had not read any of the reviews for Helium before trying out because I wanted to from my own view on the site and like so many I have very few nice things to say about it.
I feel as though the site is very restrictive in that to make any money or get any views you have to do topics already done by them. You can create your own topics but you will not have an audience unless you have a few stars behind your name and a few followers.
I found the site very complicated when it came to checking on the statistics for my review. The amount earned and how many people have viewed your topics of interest are not on the same page.
One positive of the site is their use of awards for well written topics. It is nice to receive money for a review but an award feels more like you have achieved something.
Payment is restricted to Paypal and you can donate to a charity. I would prefer a cheque in post or transfer like CIAO does. I do not like Paypal as payment option as many people try to hack into it daily more than other banks.
The system of comparing reviews or topics is for me a bit brutal as sometimes the difference between them is so small.
The amount you earn for a review is dependent on how many stars you have behind your name each star represents a Dollar so for example if you have five stars you would receive 5 US dollars per review. They do warn as fast as you earn those stars if you don't keep up quality in them you will lose them on the way. That seems a harsh to me but it will keep quality going.
The site has the ability to let you know how good you really are and might improve your chances in the writing world.
Each Topic or review you do has a minimum of 500 words which can be a lot if you have to do a topic you're not comfortable with. In My opinion this where I feel Dooyoo and ciao give you more freedom.
If you feel up to a challenge than the website url is www.helium.com.
PS I would only really try site when you have reached a level of writing skill to attempt it.
Summary: overall not for me
