“ hi5. „
A low profiled social networking website where its theme is similar to the likes of Bebo and Facebook. It used to be popular before Facebook and Bebo hit the scenes and did have a lot of members on it. At that time I used to be a member of the site and remember having many concerns on the security of the website. The major Cons of Hi 5 * People can view your profile without being your friend or in your network * Lot of Forwarded Messages sent * Spam on profiles * Random meet up messages In my time on the site them were the major cons I did experience on the site mostly. A lot of the time the one mega problem was the amount of spam messages sent on a daily basis to my inbox. This problem was never actually sorted out and at the end it was one of the reasons I left the site. Another common problem was they allowed people to edit their profiles too much on the site. This problem was seen by people adding so much music and videos to their page it ended up with my browser crashing at times. I blame Hi 5 for giving too much editing options and this really killed of my interest in the site. The security was never there plus there was no help from Hi 5 either on sorting matters out so I left the site. This is one to miss because they are no where near the likes of Facebook and Bebo at all.
Hi5 is a social networking website which is free to join for its members. On the website you can make friends as you communicate with other members of the website from across the world. Its really that simple on the website you add friends and can talk to others by sending them messages. Some people are a little bit odd on the website! You get some of them saying "oh come meet me" or " like your picture sexy xxx" these are typical comments on the website you get. Just ignore those clowns on the website because they are after meeting up and could be any one with a fake picture! Scary thing about HI5 is some people have fake profiles and try to message you. Some people act like girls and some act like boys. One girl was trying to act like a boy to me to scare me! She made a fake profile and talked about a person I knew in real life. The security is rubbish on Hi5 as they never take stuff like this seriously. Remember this social website may seem safe but it can be a scary one to go on with all the problems I have had on it!
Hi5 is a social networking site and is just as good if not better than Myspace and Facebook. To register is very simple. All you have to do is enter your name, date of birth, email address etc all the usual stuff. After joining, you can customise your profile wth countless layouts and designs. It is very easy to sue as everything is a hyperlink. It allows you to post pictures, leave comments, hi5, choose emoticons that show your relationship with a person and also gives you friend suggestions so if there are people on hi5 who are on your hotmail then you will get a friend suggestion for them. I think hi5 does not get enough credit but i think it is the best. It is not just boring blue and white with no colour or design like facebook. It is also better then myspace because it does not freeze every time you visit someone's profile. The weird thing that i have noticed is that it is mainly used by asians and black people. It is a good networking site nevertheless and allows you to keep in touch with old friends.
Hi5 is a social networking site. To be a member you create an account with hi5 and create you profile. Then you make a network of family and or friends by adding whoever you want to be in your friends network. Every time you visit the site the home page will give you updates of everyone who is in your network and all their activities on the site. Social networking sites are great to keep in touch with friends by uploading pictures, sending messages, displaying your status, making comments etc. Depending on the site there might be more or less features than the above mentioned. WHAT I LIKE ABOUT IT. * It's easy to use * Pages don't look over cluttered * The ability to customize profile and change skins * The new widgets for photos and videos WHAT I DISLIKE ABOUT IT * Can get boring after a while, specially when most of your friends are leaving * Strangers wanting to be my friend (for some reason this doesn't happen on Facebook) * Didn't gain the popularity of too many of my friends MY EXPERIENCE About 2 years ago, I was getting invites from friends to join hi5. But as I was not so sure what this was all about I always put it off for another time. Until I saw my husband on the site and had a peek at what it was all about. The moment I saw it I thought it was a great way to keep in touch with friends and get in touch with friends I had lost contact with. I signed up immediately and added all my friends and uploaded some pics as I was really excited about being able to socialize online! I loved the site and visited it very frequently, and found so many friends that I had not been in touch with and found a lot of interesting old pics of our school days etc... I was aware of everything my family and friends were up to. From the beginning I used to get 1 or 2 friend requests from people I didn't know and I just ignored it, until I was getting too many requests from strangers that it was getting really annoying. Some even send more than 1 request if you don't accept them! Around the time I was beginning to see a few faults in hi5, facebook had just started becoming popular and many of my friends had switched over and some were both on hi5 and facebook. I joined facebook too, which at first seemed like a site with a lot of useless information and way too many applications. But after a few visits to the site I realized how to use it and the applications were not too bad after all and made it fun to be on the site. This site had a lot of cool features but I wouldn't go into that as it's not a review about facebook. But these features made me frequent this site so much more that I had forgotten about hi5. I occasionally go to hi5 but get put off by the weird messages people send. This is another thing that is really annoying. People send private messages, for example, saying they have won a lottery and want to share their money with you... Makes me think, does my display picture make me look so gullible? I have received many requests to other social networking sites but these are the only 2 I am currently a member of.
---history and intro to hi5------ Hi5 is the 11th most popular website in the world, myspace and orkut.com being the only 2 social networking sites to be more popular. hi5 was founded by Ramu Yalamanchi who is also the current CEO hi5 basically allows you to create an online profile in order to show information such as interests, age and hometown and upload user pictures where users can post comments. hi5 also allows the user to create personal photo albums and set up a music player in the profile. Users can also send friend requests via e-mail to other users According to hi5 they receive over 18 million unique users per month!!! and have over 50 million members, From Miami to Mumbai, Lima to Lisbon, Sydney to San Francisco, 'hi5 is the place where young people come to stay in touch with friends, meet new people, create & explore content, and express themselves. ' In terms of misuse hi5 seems alright, there are a few who put porn on their images when its against the rules but apart from the odd few its quite alright. I have noticed it is getting more popular as strange people add me as friends/send me comments. Hi5 have now allowed you to personalise your profile, like using html coding, so people now have mouse effects and videos playing on their profile. Hi5 also allow you to have music tracks playing on your profile. Hi5 have created groups like according to schools attended etc, intending to re-unite old friends, has that happened? well yes actually I've met many old primary school friends again through hi5 and its great to see how they've turned out. On hi5 you can see the people who have visited your profile, you can also search for people, keep a journal, scrapbook etc. People can leave comments on your hi5 personal page and can also leave photo comments. (Which you can accept or reject) People can also give each other 'fives' like for example categories include cute, best friend, handsome etc. The main competitors to hi5 are facebook.com - very popular with university students - infact there was a recent article that students on facebook were discussing exam papers or something and that they were going to be investigated. Other sites include bebo, orkut and many more. They are all extremely similar, facebook however looks quite unique as you can draw pictures on peoples 'walls' - (equivalent of giving comments on their comment page)
Upload your videos, add flicks to your profile.
