After more than a month of hassle and just wanting internet at home, I took the path of least resistance and let HomeChoice install the service. 7. Premium Review homechoice.co.uk/revolution/rev_home.html: HomeChoice is a lousy choice (433 words)

What to expect from HomeChoice: 1. Ordered HomeChoice and made an appointment for the installation, in two weeks time. 2. Shortly before the appointment I received an email telling me there was a "cabling problem" and that HomeChoice couldn't provide me any service. 3. Tried to get connect with another provider but couldn't because of an "incompatible service" (HomeChoice of course) connected to my BT line. 4. Spent two weeks trying to HomeChoice to disconnect their service from my line so I could use another provider. 5. I was eventually told that the "cabling problem" was a mistake ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review I would not recommend Homechoice (312 words)

Firstly, their customer service is terrible! I have spent several times literally waiting on the phone for hours to speak to a representative. You automatically have a 12 month contract which you cannot break even if Homechoice fail to provide you with the service you pay for. I have had nothing but problems with Homechoice since I first had it installed 6 months ago. The service is extremely erratic and the 'set top box' switches itself off for no apparent reason which cuts off the signal which is extremely annoying if you are in the middle of watching a programme on one of the digital channels or if you are surfing or downloading from the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review homechoice.co.uk/revolution/rev_home.html: More improvements have been made (810 words)

Over the last few years, homechoice has gone through a lot of changes. One of the main interests for us was the broadband internet service (covered in a different review) that comes with the VOD service. The VOD, on the other hand, turned out to be an unexpected bonus. When we first got homechoice, it was very limited in terms of what was on offer and what you could view. However, this has changed. The pay per view movies have expanded to include a larger variety of films and has many blockbusters lying around as well as countless classics, with movies from all genres present. Depending on the type of movie and the profile it holds, the cost varies (for example, ...  Read the complete review

I signed up for Homechoice in March 2001. Before that I was a Globalnet client, complete will dial-up charges, and consequently, high telephone bills. I emailed Globalnet in Sept 2000 about the chances of getting ADSL (the website said it was in the pipeline). I still havent heard back. I phoned Homechoice on a Thursday to make my enqiries, because £20 a month just seemed too low a price for continual access. There had to be a catch. ( There wasn't, but now I believe you have to take at least one pay service on the digital TV). The next Tuesday, a BT ( and why haven't THEY changed names?) engineer arrived, changed my phone socket, checked the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review homechoice.co.uk/revolution/rev_home.html: teething problems but excellent! (144 words)

i initially experienced problems with the installation - appointments not fulfilled on about three occasions. when the installation eventually happened, i was told there would be problems because my computer was located upstairs and the TV downstairs. When i complained about the installation, i was provided with immediate assistance and two very helpful engineers made the necessary modifications and I can now enjoy the full service. The computer link is excellent and has saved me considerable time accessing pages etc. The TV service, particularly as regards films, is better than i had envisaged. the programmes available are nit "must sees" ...  Read the complete review
