Advantages: Easy to use, Efficient, Covers many topics of interest

Disadvantages: postage can oush up the price

I am an avid book reader, but more specificly to do with my hobby which is horseriding and anything horsey related. Problem being the high street book shops don't sell them and neither do they cater for my boyfriend and his father who are more into larger forms of horsepower-i.e race cars! They only really have general interest books so finding something as specific as "Building and racing your own Mini" or "Think Like Your Horse" (sounds weird i know-but its a behaviour book-honest!), is impossible.

Using Amazon.co.uk however, i have managed to cater to both our needs especially when it came to Christmas and the inevitable question of what do you get someone that has everything?!
It is easy to search the titles of books or videos or just to do a general search if you don't really know what you want-such as typing in "Mini Racing" when you know your other half is mad about minis but you haven't a clue what to get him that will be worth reading!
The good thing about this site is that people also write reviews so if you don't know anything about the book or video you can read what other people have thought. This helped me on many an occasion to make a decision.

Buying is also easy-im an internet addict and use my credit card but its simple and very safe to use. You get informed of how long it will be before the title is available and how long it will take to despatch to you. Postage and packing is the only downside as if your buying just one book it pushes the price up but then again most items are cheaper than anywhere else so once you add the postage and packing its no different to if you had to buy it on teh high street. Main difference being that with Amazon you can find many things that aren't available in your local shops.
You can also combine items which makes it cheaper postage wise but make sure that all the products you order have the same waiting time as if they can't be
despatched at the same time then you pay postage and packing for each item.
I have used Amazon about 6 times now and each item always arrives on time. Only once did i order a book that was due to take 2 weeks, but then kept getting put back to the point of waiting for 2 months! However they let you know all this via email and you can check your account status at any time. All i did was cancel my order at the time and decided to buy the book directly from a stand at an equestrian trade fair, which saved me waiting.
I would definately recommend this site to anyone interested in books,videos,dvds etc and even more so if you don't know much about the product as you can read the reviews.
Thanks to them i have access to enough motorsport products to keep the men happy for a few more Christmases!
