Advantages: Fast free easy to use email service, lots of storage space, links to messenger
Disadvantages: the limit of 10mb per email can be a little annoying at times
I have been signed up to hotmail ever since I originally got connected to the internet. I was looking for a free email provider and this was the very first one that was suggested to me.
Initially I was a little intimidated as having never used anything like this before but thankfully everything is geared towards being extremely user friendly. The registration for hotmail requires a few details from you including personal details but whether you choose to submit genuine personal details is up to you. It probably takes about 5 minutes to fully sign up and this will include choosing an email name and a password for protection.
Once you are signed in you have a range of options including creating a profile of yourself which will then be directly linked to your msn messenger account, you can upload photos and add people to your network which makes it similar in theme in this respect to network sites. You can also use the same username and password to log into msn messenger to.
However these are additional extras and first and foremost, you have 5gb worth of storage space for received emails which means you can receive thousands before even having to consider deleting them. Thankfully this is managed very well though and therefore should you to, you can consign some to the scrap heap, deem others to be junk email which in turn will prevent the sender from sending any more (in theory at least) and searching emails is made easy courtesy of the ability to sort by name, size, subject and date.
This is an excellent professional service which is offered to you free of charge. The only genuine limitations placed upon you are the fact that you can only send or receive emails which are no bigger than 10gb. For typical email this does not pose a problem but if the email comes with attachments, then this will either require the files to be compressed or sent in different emails. However there is no general gripe as far as I am concerned. How do msn make this pay? through the details you submit to them which they can then use for marketing purposes. This is an extremely convenient, efficient smooth and hassle free service.
