Good old hotmail
Member Name: Larrabee
Advantages: Easy to use, reliable, trusted
Disadvantages: Low attachment data limit
I first signed up to hotmail about ten years ago. Back then e-mail wasn't the huge deal it is now so I didn't get much and I ended up having that account suspended and then deleted for leaving it dormant for too long. This is probably not something that would happen now, especially if you were using it as your primary e-mail address but its something to be aware of and worth checking what the time limits are these days.
I now use hotmail as my main e-mail address and am pretty happy with it. I have never had any issues with it being hacked into, possibly because I change my passwords regularly and I keep them very random as opposed to something in my life that could be guessed, so it might be worth doing these things too.
I am happy with the amount of storage available and have never had to delete any e-mails other than unwanted junk. They are all sorted into specific folders which are very easy to create and manage on hotmail.
Hotmail is very user friendly and easy to navigate, it is easy to add new contacts to your address book and easy to quickly find a contact just by typing the first few letters of the address into the 'to' box, where it will magically appear!
Adding attachments is simple, although a higher data allowance would be nice, it is currently only 10MB which is adequate but not generous.
The spam filter is pretty rigorous, in fact its worth keeping an eye on your junk folder because from time to time something you actually wanted will end up in there accidentally.
Overall, I am very happy with hotmail and will continue to use it. The only downside I can see from a new users point of view is that it has become so popular that all the obvious and best e-mail addresses are already taken!
Summary: I'm perfectly happy with it, but there may be better options for newer users.
