Hotmail is the only email i use apart from my freeserve one. I love hotmail as it integrates easily with the msn messenger service i have. Hotmail is a free web based email service in which millions of people worldwide use. Its a quick easy way to use email and it can be checked from anywhere in the world using your password and login.

Signing Up

First, You will need to go to http://www.hotmail.com. You will be provided with a page asking you to login and above it, it says sign up now to hotmail. This is not very big and i should suggest that microsoft make this bigger. Then the sign up process will begin. The signup form is long and you have to fill in all the details, once that is done and you have created your email address then you are free to use it.

Using Hotmail

You have to login to the hotmail service on the main page, once logged in the inbox will come up. This is where emails will appear. The layout is very good and it has tabs such as inbox,compose and trash!
Composing an email is easy, click on the compose tab and then put in the persons email and the subject and that should be ready then to type your message in. Once written you can then send it.

Msn Messenger Integration

If you have this service (if you want to know more you can check my opinion on this) then this will integrate well with hotmail. When you log onto messenger it will tell you how many new emails you will have and also it will tell you when a message has been recieved witch is very handy.

Server Speed

The server is regulary fast but somtimes it may be slowed down at peak times (or maybe thats my connection), this can be annoying but it hardly ever happens.

Using Hotmail In Email Client (Outlook etc)

You can use hotmail in email clients so you can open a program and your email wi
ll be downloaded into it, instead of you having to login to the website and check it that way. This is a very handy way but can be difficult to configure and also finding the server is hard to add to the mail program.

Competition

Yahoo Mail - Good but isnt as nice looking, can be slow!
Lycos Mail - Login into this can be awkward, emails take time to recieve!

Spamming

A bad point about hotmail is that spamming is done, Spamming is when people send email to a lot of email addresses. Hotmail is a very big service and i get around 2 junk emails a day, but you can filter it out so that the emails you dont want will be transferred into the junk folder.nice!

If you are thinking of signing up to a email service then i suggest signing up to hotmail as it has all the makings for a world class service! Other rivals are not a patch on this!
