Advantages: Leave messages
Disadvantages: umm
I've got a lot to thank ILoveJackDaniels for, I met my darling girl Allie through Tooyoo. I've also sort of met a few other very nice people through it too, so that's nice. Do I have to? Do I have to explain what Tooyoo is? Or can I just write an opinion without it being anal? Oh dear, I do have to don't I? OK, but I'm not going into the history of it. Tooyoo is a place where Dooyoo members, and other people, I suppose, like cheekychicken who is not a Dooyoo member anymore, can set up a guestbook. It is mostly Dooyoo members though. Umm, you can leave messages for people, and they can leave messages for you. Yeah, that about covers it I think. Of course you can do other stuff like change your own page colours, or make your guestbook private, or leave private messages for other people which you might want to do because if you don't make them private everyone can read them but if you do make them private only you and the person that you left it for can read it, oh and ILoveJackDaniels can read all of the private messages too but he probably doesn't because he's a nice guy. The site loads quickly, in fact just now as I was writing this I looked at my own guestbook and it said "Tooyoo popped up this page in 0.149 seconds" so that's pretty quick eh. There is a link to a chatroom, but it isn't an exclusive Tooyoo chatroom, it is shared by the users of OpCom (not part of this opinion so if you're interested go find out what that is for yourself). The chatroom is scary at times, so I don't really go there much now. There is one person in particular who seems to have absolutely no life because they are always in there, but they aren't really there, they just log in and record all of the conversations and read them later and show bits of them to other people. Quite sad really, and very very rude, they should be ashamed of themselves. So that's the chatroom. Have a l
ook if you want, but every word you say is being logged, so I don't go because I value my privacy far too much. Umm, yes, there is a general message area too, which I haven't looked at for ages because frankly I've got better things to do, but hey, if that's your scene it is there should you fancy reading and posting in it. Oh, and there is a member list too so as you can find people to leave messages for if you do want to leave someone a message. All in all it is a splendid idea, and ILJD should be congratulated and thanked for providing it. There is no advertising on the site, which is rather decent but perhaps a bit of advertising would help pay for the bandwidth which at present is being paid for by ILJD. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing the occasional advert, jeez I'd even click the odd one now and again if it would help with the running costs. Mind you, if it did have advertising then some people might think he was just in it to make a quick buck, y'know the type of people who can't see that some others actually enjoy being selfless and useful and helpful and generous, ah well. However, although the whole Tooyoo thing is a great gesture by ILJD, it would be far better placed on the dooyoo site, as would a discussion board, one log-in, no bogus members, no self promotion, little abuse etc. Not that Tooyoo has been blighted by any of those things, but it could be, and Dooyoo wouldn't be in any position to intervene. The 'community' aspect of Dooyoo gets a lot of praise, but most of the community has grown outside of the site, which isn't good business by Dooyoo. Surely they should be keeping their members together in one place, using all of those extra page hits to sell ads, no? Anyway, that's Tooyoo for ya. I like it, it's neat and useful and does bring the community a bit closer together. I met some very special people through it, and I'm sure others have too. I
9;ve changed my page colours to green and white and orange in remembrance of the brave Irishmen who were so unlucky in the world cup. Mendieta sucks. Go have a look at my new colours, and leave me a message. Sign up if you haven't already. Tooyoo isn't exclusive, which makes a change from other such sites. It can be what you make it y'know. http://www.hotshotsdesigns.co.uk/tooyoo/book.p hp?user=charliechuckle
