Advantages: A wonderful place, The people
Disadvantages: none
Well they said make the title short n snappy! So I did! Now you could be forgiven into thinking what the heck is Tooyoo as the membership is only a small percentage of Dooyoo's total membership. I think present membership stands at 350 - one of those isn't actually a Dooyoo member she's my 4 year old who wanted her own email book now please! Tooyoo was set up a few months ago by a Dooyoo member IloveJackDaniels in a bid to give people a guest book - now to be know as GB's as Dooyoo hadn't got this facility as yet. In the early days it was a wee bit quiet over there till word of mouth got around and now the place really is buzzing. So you're a little bit intrigued then? If you click on the link here on Dooyoo you'll be transported to the title page, this is a bit non discript and buisness like basically telling you why Tooyoo was set up and a handy link to register. Still not sure you want to join up then just hit the Members icon at the top and this will take you into the mad world that is Tooyoo, from here you can take a peak at the General Message Area (GMA) or want to know if your mates have joined then do a search of all the members to have a look. The search can either be done automatically by typing in a members name or you can browse down the alphabetised list of members to find a familiar name Registering To be able to post either in a members GB or in the GMA you have to register. This is a very simple process just click on the register link on the front page add your username - normally a good idea to use your dooyoo name add a password then repeat and within a second you are a fully fledged Tooyoo member! Settings When you first register you'll notice that your GB is bare and a whiter shade of white! So if you'd like to add a bit of colour in your life then click on the settings link which will then flash up a variety of options one being the ability to add
a bit of colour into your life! By fiddling about with the settings you'll be able transform your GB into a homely place and colour cordinated to match your mood! Within the settings you have the abiltiy to change your password and to set up Email notifications. If you do set up email notifications you'll recieve two emails a day one notifying you of messages posted on your GB and one of messages posted on the GMA. Ok so now you've got this wonderful GB what do you do with it now your probably wondering? Well you could start replying to all those welcome to Tooyoo messages you'll get! Posting This is the fun bit. If you want to reply to another members post then just click on their user name which will then take you to their GB then just type in that empty box then press submit - easy peasy really. Now you might have noticed that under that empty box is another little box with Private Message next to it - this can be useful if you don't want others to read what you've posted, by clicking this box only you and the recipitant will be able to see the message. Posting in the GMA is exactly the same apart from you can't do PM's for obvious reasons! Now you might have noticed that some people finsih their posts off with little smileys etc or use html for more information on that I'd suggest you take a look at the Help section - just look at the top of the page there you'll find all the codes etc you'll need. Managing your Guest book Ok so now your a fully fledged Tooyooer you've got 96 messages in your GB and you are using up Dave's bandwidth. Deleting messages is easy just hit the delete icon under the posts this can be time consuming so if you want to do some radical spring cleaning just go into settings where you can delete the entire collections of posts. Now you might have noticed that some people have set their GB's to private th
ere by only they can read the messages contained in them. If you'd like to set up this option you'll need to go back to that settings page then just click on the private option at the top of the page. Should you want to go public again it's as simple again just deactivate the private on the settings page.if you should decide to have a private GB then your user name will not appear in the list of members but will show up if someone does a search for you. Being invisible You might have noticed by now that when you log on your user name appears on screen along with other users online at that moment. Then you might notice that it says 13 members online but only your name is visible! You can automatically log on as invisible from the log in page. I admit I do first thing in the morning - well I don't want people to realise I'm that sad I check my email and GB at 6am every morning! It does have it's uses if say you are busy doing other things online - like writing dooyoo opinions and means you can easily flick backwards and frowards with out appearing to ignore people as you bash out an op! Word of warning don't take it personally if you are called an Invis Freak on the GMA it's done with the highest regard and many a fun half hour as been spent outing all the invis peeps!! The General Message Area This is the main board on Tooyoo home to poems by Jimblob - Tooyoo's own Poet Laureate, Auldmac's crazy links - does he ever come off line? The Duke's I rock post's - I'm sure his medication should be upped! General sillyness and a whole prolification of other posts. It has been known to have a few serious post on it too, but lucky this hasn't developed into any full scale rows The only thing that is frowned on is self promotion - so if you have just written a new op over on dooyoo don't go an advertise the fact on the GMA, use your GB if you must! Chat
r><br>Tooyoo is linked up to the Chatroom on op.com. By clicking on the link at the top of the page you can access the chatroom using Java. The chat room is normally inhabited from about 9pm onwards till the wee small hours. Having used the chatroom for well over 18 months now I'd highly recommend it. Just don't expect us to be talking about Dooyoo! A friendly welcome is always given out! Having been a member of Tooyoo for several months now I'd highly recommend it. During this time I've met other Dooyooer's that prehaps I would never have met under normal circumstances. The astmosphere on the site is really good and a more friendlier place is yet to be found. I recently went for a job interview the amount of good luck messages posted in my GB on the morning of the interview was over whelming! For me Tooyoo is a very welcome addition to my dooyoo activities. G'wan you know you wanna join..... :) ~Update~ That Dave loves fiddling around for our enjoyment on Tooyoo! The latest feature on Tooyoo was unveiled some moments ago hence my update! Click on the Tooyoo logo and you will be transfered to a new page with a welcome note and two new areas - The postcard section and a handy links page. The links page contains links to other dooyoo related sites, a variety of members personal sites and Dave's own Dooyoo and Ciao random opinion generator.
