hushmail.comNewest Review: ... that when it arrives at it’s designated destination it can only be opened by a person or computer with the necessary digital security certificate to decode it. A perfectly civilized solution, you may think. However major world governments such as the US and UK don’t think so. To these powers, encryption technology goes back to the old coding and decoding technologies used by the military during the various world wars and the Cold War, and thus is seen as a weapon rather than a personal private security mechanism. One man that has had to battle this flawed way of thinking is Phillip Zimmermann, creator of an email encryption ... more |

Very few people realise that, when an email is sent, it is quite possible that it could be viewed by at least ten different people – from misschievous hackers, government officials, employers, colleges etc – as it zips instantaneously across a world of phone lines and computer servers. This is one of the reasons why the topic of security continues to raise its head in the Internet world and a strong reason why Irish companies like Baltimore and Trintech have gained such a high profile in global markets. One solution for protecting your emails in transmission is to code them with encryption software so that when it arrives at it’s ... Read the complete review

In my opinion, Hushmail could be a very useful utility for those who do not wish to have their emails read by the government. However, it is also problematic in the fact that often, you yourself cannot read your own emails. I found the registration easy to use, and the key generation a good idea. However, when trying to log in another time, I could not due to various errors with java files etc.. However, once I did manage to log in, and I sent an email. This email, however, did not ever actually deliver. Still a lot of work needing to be done by hush communications -k ... Read the complete review

I have been a loyal subscriber of hushmail.com for about a year now and whilst I can't argue with them about the security of their emails, it seems that is all they have concerned themselves with. Major disadvantages with the service include. 1. Unable to read HTML code, meaning that if someone was to send you a picture all you would see is gobbledy gook. 2. Unable to open file attachments. 3. Average log-in time of 5 minutes (very slow). These problems have become evident to me now that I am using the internet more and more. I need an email service I can rely on and unfortunately to say hushmail.com does not meet my standards, nor I'm ... Read the complete review

Hushmail is similar to all the other webmail services available out there, with one large difference. The main focus of the service with Hushmail is security of your data. The connection is encrypted, your emails are encrypted. This is excellent if you want to have an easy to use anonymous email address, considering the alternative is trying to figure out how Nymservers work and then configuring yourself a Nym alias. The site isn`t that brilliant to use - it took me a long time to get my account working properly, although that could have been because my Pc was acting up at the time. I wouldn`t reccoemdn using this as your main email address - it is ... Read the complete review

Hushmail promotes itself on the security of its emails. Certainly it's one of the most secure web based email systems I've used. Using secure http connections to actually interact with the online mail client and encouraging the use of very long passphrases rather than quick passwords. The other element of secure communications it offers is between hushmail users where emails will be heavily encrypted before sending to others. Unfortunately you don't get this encryption when emailing to non-hushmail accounts. Hushmail transparently manages the key-pairs involved in encryption, so whenever you do mail another hushmail user you just check a box to ensure ... Read the complete review
