The Internet Movie Database, it does what it says on the tin, it's a complete database of pretty much every single television or film feast ever made, even independent, foreign or tiny films and companies over the past 100 years or so, I first came to know abouty this site a few years ago after a friend had told me about it.

The Internet Movie Database is a huge, vast, massive, enormous database with every film trivia under the sun mounted onto a 15"+ screen infront of our very eyes, every single part of film history at our fingertips, now, why is this useful?

Ever had one of those: 'Hang on, i've seen him in something before' moments?

Well, this is your answer, I must check IMDB after literally every single film I watch, I no doubt know at least one person in any film I watch, I then usually recognise them and try and place them to various other movies, IMDB helps instantly by telling me the answer with a list of films or production done by said actor.

Not only is this your answer to all those troubling questions you've ever had, but this site has a ridiculous amount if trivia, plot analysis and discussion regarding each film that it's difficult to know where to start, for instance, when watching Memento after the 5th or so time, I decided to check it up on IMDB, the site told me all the goofs and trivia associated with the film, before reaching the messagboard and the discussions about the whole film and what actually happend.

If you're a film buff like me, you love to know all sorts of useless for never the less highly interesting bits about films, if you're like me and you always look at the special features on dvd's and sometimes even check out the commentaries to go along with your film this site is perfect for you, everything you'd want to know about any film ever. Not only that but IMDB has helped me, through actor preference, find films I may also enjoy with the same actor, for example, if I like a Kevin Spacey or Morgan Freeman film, I simply search there name and look to see what else they have been in.

Along with the obvious film buff benefits there is also a rating system attributed to each film, for each vote a film gets (1-10 stars) an average is calculated and it is placed on a list, now this list must be endless to to make things easier IMDB do a top 250, they do a top (enter genre) list, they do numerous lists slowly cust down so you can find the best rated films by a certain actor, year or genre.

This, in conjunction with my lovefilm account, has helped me amass a large list of films that I would like to watch and depending on the actors, plot and rating (all displayed on the film page direct on IMDB) I am able to make a coherentand good choice about what film to decide to watch next.

The database even has a list of actors/actresses birthdates and places, so if you wish are able to link any actor to yourself in someway by being born on the same day or similar, there's a load of movie news direct on the front page as well as numerous upcoming releases and trailers to view for almost every film to be released.

I'm not sure there's much more to it than that, it's basically the ultimate in film trivia all within one dedicated site, if only you could take this to pub quizzes they'd become obselete, no more do you have to worry and wonder for days on end about who that guy in Robocop was you seen recently (the answer being Christopher Henderson in 24 if you really wanted to know), the special features on dvd's a great these days and this is another great step to informing us everything about the film.

I personally love to find out stuff about my favourite films, I have found brilliant facts and revelations about some of my favourites which adds something extra to the film in some way, think of this site as an added special feature to your dvd, if you ever wanted to know where AMerican beauty was shot, who it stars, its runtime, the directors, who farted on set then IMDB will provide you with the answer.
