The burning question: Who is she/he?Where have I seen them before?

I find myself asking this question for more or less every film or TV show I watch and it is so frustrating not being able to place the person. You can just hear their voice or see their face and KNOW you have seen them before but cannot place them. For some reason this is one of the most irriatating feelings.

IMDB is the answer - it solves all of those annoying queries.

It is like an online compendium of all films and TV shows that you can search.

If you are watching a film and want to know who someone is you search for the film and it brings up a list of characters and names the actor/actress for you. This is usually pretty comprehensive and will list more or less every person in the film or show, even some of the more insignificant characters.

The beauty of IMDB however is that when you have found out which actor plays the character you can then click on the actors name which then brings up a profile for the actor listing every show and film they have ever been in. This wy you can scroll down and find out which show or film you remember them from - thus answering the annoying 'who IS that?' question.

It is also useful because by listing their other films means if there is an actor you like you can see what films them have been in so you can view more of their work. It also lists their upcoming films and anticipated release dates so you can look out for more of their work.

I really like this site not only does it list actors and characters it also lists filming locations so if you are watching something and think to yourself 'where is that?' IMDB will usually have it listed. Like the actor search facility you can then click on the location and see where is has been used in other productions. I find this section is not as comprehensive as the actors/characters section but is still pretty useful and interesting none the less.

In addition to the factual stuff - IMDB also lists triva about the film and actors. Little snippets of odd yet strangely interesting details that you may never have known otherwise.

I also like the fact that often there are pictures of the actors, either from real life or movie stills. I like it when you look up a child actor as often there will be pictures of what they have grown up into which is quite interesting.

I really cannot fault this site. I have never been unble to find who someone is or been denied the information I am looking for. If you type in an actors name to 'google' an IMDB search result is usually certain to be in the top 5 search results, it's always high up there.

To me IMDB has become a verb, in the same way as you say 'I'll google it' we now say 'lets IMDB them' and it really does work.
