Advantages: Easy to use and full of information

Disadvantages: Message boards can be a bit dodgy to be on, insults can be thrown!

IMDb (Internet Movie Database) is one of my all time favourite sites, along with my go-to site the moment I've been told about some film that's apparently great.
With a user-friendly easy to navigate layout (which has just had the colour scheme change from a yellow'y to a new black with the logo standing out even more now), with information on basically every single film/tv series, old or new, what's not to like?

IMDb has many features on it, such as (apart from obviously a page on each film/tv series), it has a "Born Today" section, which details which celebrities were born on today's date however many years ago. It also has a Top At The Box Office, explaining what's the newest and most successful films right now. Along with Opening This Week and Coming Soon, you're basically never gonna miss a new good film!

IMDb also has Polls Of The Day, Daily Trivia and a Quote Of The Day. Unlike most sites however, these things aren't ridiculously in the way and distracting of the main reason you're there. They're easy to find, but they're not in your face and in the way.

The main pages about a certain movie or tv show, after searching and finding the film or tv show you're after, the page on it always includes;

A cast list with links to the actors own personal page.
Quotes, Pictures, User Rating, MOVIEmeter, Directors/Writers, Release dates, Genre, Tagline, Plot and plot keywords. The plot always also has a short to the point explaination, and a full in depth synopsis about the film.
Comments about it and also the filming locations, language, colour, parents rating, the runtime of the film, and loads of other things! All you need to do is look, and you'll see the extensive amount of information they have about every films and such!

There's also a "Fun Stuff" section on every page with quotes, trivia, and the soundtrack. And an FAQ on the page.

All of the things on the page sound like it would be incredibly cluttered and unsightly to look at, but this isn't the case. It looks professional and easy to manage, nothing is cluttered and it doesn't take forever to load.

The pages for Actors include;
Pictures, dates of birth/death, place of birth, a small autobiography about them, starmeters, trivia and awards, and also a link to any news about them recently.
Then there's a long list of every film/show they've starred in, and what character they've played! It serves incredibly well for when you recognize someone in a film but can't quite place what else they've been in!

At the bottom of every page for every film/tv show/actor, there's a message boards section, now the people on there can be pretty darn rude and spoil things, and the arguments are absolutely horrendous, so don't even bother posting on IMDb unless you do want to get into an argument with someone or somehow be insulted. Other than that, it is a helpful feature to have on there, and some of the people on there are actually quite intelligent and it's nice to have a debate about some aspects of the films if you're the debating sort! :)

At the bottom, there's also recommendations of what other films you might be interested in, and a Related Links section to steer you to the more productive parts of the film if you're interested in that time of thing.

The entire site is VERY easy to use, and very user friendly. Signing up isn't difficult to become a member. The site is great and I'd recommend it to anyone who's interested in films and the productive side of things when it comes to films.

Summary: One of my favourite sites, a must for any moviebuff! :)
