Advantages: You just might learn something, it helps in Trivial Persuit!
Disadvantages: quite monotinous but addictive
This website has been frustrating and teasing me with unreachable rewards over the last two weeks. Itpaystolearn seems like a good idea at the start and is actually frighteningly addictive, but I have to say I'm not convinced of it's merits. The idea behind it is that you take quizzes in school subjects to test your general knowledge. You build up points for answers, one for answering and more for getting it right - increasing with the difficulty rating. Your success statistics are kept for you and you can check on your point balance very easily under the 'knowledge bank' section. It all seems jolly good fun at first. Each time you finish a quiz there is another big button inviting you to take another. It's all to easy to keep on 'just taking one more' until you find half the day has gone and you've started to lose your vision! I suppose one good thing about it is you can wow your family with your newfound knowledge. At last, they'll be no need to run for cover when the Trivial Persuit raises it's ugly head after Christmas dinner! So, how much do you earn for your trouble? Well that depends on how much the sponsors make from having their banners on the site - but at the last count it was around 675 points for $1. Yes, they pay in dollars too - but I believe they can convert it by using a system called Paypal. I have estimated from the speed of my computer and the average time it takes to complete a questionnaire, it would take about 42 hours continuous quizzing at an average of 7/10 score per game (longer if less successful) to get the minimum pay out level of $20. I'm not that hot on exchange rates but maybe that's around £14? Just over 30p an hour for your efforts? Well I don't know about you but I can think of a least one site that pays higher and is a lot more fun! Of course, you can always get into the pyramid/chain lette
r thing and recommend all your mates to join. This way you get a teeny bit of commission for each quiz they attempt on top of your own earnings, but personally I don't know anyone that could be bothered to join mine - they all have more fulfilling lives! (Do let me know if YOU fancy it though and I'll send you a link!) Well, I'll give it a bit longer to redeem itself. I've notched up 2000 points and I'm damned if I'm going to waste them. Just another 11,500 points to go. I'm going to make it, if it kills me!

- 01/10/01 Thanks snappy but I think you're just cleverer than me, with a faster modem. That's quite a sum! |

- 01/10/01 I managed to get up to 5000 points just last night. With a few referalls I might get a pay out next month. We'll see. I do know people who have been paid. By the way my average is better on the 'advanced', than the 'internmediate' questions |
