Advantages: get paid for having a brain
Disadvantages: you're not sure how much you are going to get paid each month
It Pays To Learn.com put simply, pays you to learn. More accurately, it pays you to prove you have learned already. You do quizzes, and they pay you depending on how many answers you get right. It is free to join, and they were considering a subscription fee, but that hasn’t been started. When you register, it asks you for your name and e-mail address. It also asks you for your home address (I suppose this is to find out where to send the cheques to.) You then fill a survey about your interests. You also have to choose adult (13+) or child (0-12). This affects some of the things you can do on the site. The quizzes are split into categories, and there are ten questions in each quiz. They are also split into beginner, intermediate and hard. There are five quizzes in each difficulty level/subject. The categories are: Science, History, Maths, Geography, Spelling, Music, Literature, Bible, Sports, Definitions, Animals, Famous words/people/places, U.S constitution, Medicine + Anatomy, Law + Order, Politics and Media. When you choose the topic, it gives you the first question. Each question has three answers to choose from. You have about thirty seconds to answer before it loads the next page. It then tells you if you got the question right or wrong, and (if you got it wrong) what the right answer was. When you have done ten questions it tells you how many points you earned on the quiz, and then asks you if you want to record the results or not. This gives you a chance to retake quizzes. You are paid in ‘Cash Points’ for the quizzes. The value is about 650 cash points to a dollar (£0.6). This rate varies from month to month. They work out the value of cash points by taking the running costs of the site from the money made from advertisers, and dividing this by the amount of cash points given out in the month. For each quiz you get: On beginner - 4*the number of questions you got right + 1 for ea
ch you got wrong On intermediate - 5*the number of questions you got right + 1 for each you got wrong On hard - 6*the number of questions you got right + 1 for each you got wrong When you have done all the questions in a topic it is removed from the list of quizzes. You can re-take quizzes which are made up of questions that you answered wrong. A way of getting extra money is to write quizzes for the site. They are adding several other ways of money making to the site including surveys and sponsor e-mails. With the e-mails, you volunteer to have e-mails sent to you from the companies that advertise on the site. They pay you 50 cash points for each one you are sent. The site has a referral system for suggesting the site to friends, so I will take this opportunity to tell you the sites real address: http://www.itpaystolearn.com/default.asp?ref_id=AD J668 J. You are paid one cash point for every quiz a friend does and for all of their referrals, going to tenth generation. You only get paid this if you earn 500 cash points yourself in the month, and it is doubled if you earn 5000 in a month. The quizzes take a few minutes each, so you can easily be earning a couple of quid per hour. It doesn’t pay as well as writing ops, but it’s probably a lot easier, just needs a few clicks and a bit of thinking. ‘It pays to learn’ is slightly inaccurate, as you don’t actually learn very much, just maybe a few facts that you didn’t already know. Of course, this could be used as a good way of motivating children to pay attention at school… P.S will someone tell me what 'Ceiling of renumeration?' means? (see below)
