Advantages: Looks nice, "The Mole" is great
Disadvantages: Out of date news, Takes too long to load
I have to confess that I visit itv-f1.com every day, although it is more to read the features than to read the news. You see, the biggest problem with itv-f1.com is that everything it reports, I already know. The news is always at least a day out of date, sometimes more, or otherwise it is stating the obvious, and is not news at all, purely speculation. The news section also has a nasty tabloid feel to it, in that the stories are "spun"... the various journalists writing for itv-f1 are pretty biased, in different directions, it has to be said, but I prefer my news without someone else's interpretation... all I want is the facts. The features section is good, although again, most of it is old and has already appeared in the ITV owned F1-racing magazine. The one thing that keeps me coming back to itv-f1.com though is "The Mole" this is an excellent, excellent insider feature, which for once (makes a big change for ITV!) doesn't treat the reader like a complete imbecile. It is informative, has reasoned speculation (much of which turns out to come true) and whoever writes this column clearly knows what is going on inside F1. It is about the only column on this site that has its finger on the pulse. The thing that I really don't like about this site though is that it takes far too long to load, and once it does, it is plastered in advertising... just like ITV's F1 coverage on the tele then! More about selling advertising than it is about F1... I also can't understand why no one has worked out that the polls can be, and are, fixed. It seems strange that on very contentious issues, you can see 20 times the amount of votes you might normally get. The reason for this is that one can vote as many times as one likes in itv-f1 polls. The itv-f1 polls would have more creditability if they included an IP check to prevent multiple votes, a la f1racing.net <
br>It's not such a bad site... it's nicely presented, but then "eye candy" doesn't make up for lack of content. It's still worth the daily read, but there are much, much better F1 sites out there... Good for the casual observer maybe, but the dedicated fan will be left feeling a bit cheated... again, just like their F1 coverage on TV really...
