We booked a James Villa for a week at the beginning of July just outside Playa Blanca in Lanzarote. We went with another family so there were 9 of us in total - 4 adults and 5 children. The booking process was done online and was straightforward although the names on the confirmation were incorrect but that was corrected quickly. The site was very easy to navigate around with information very clear and no need to telephone James Villas to confirm anything which was unclear. When the confirmation came through incorrectly, we e-mailed them and it was done by return of post.

The villa clean, spacious and the welcome pack was substantial. The pool was adequate and the villa was in a quiet street and we felt we had privacy. The rep came round and was helpful about local shops, taxis into Playa Blanca, recommending places to eat etc. The pool water turned green after a few days but that was quickly sorted out.

The villa we stayed in was Villa Jessica and had kitchen and living area downstairs and also upstairs. Double and twin rooms downstairs with shower room; two double and one twin room upstairs one double with en-suite and another separate shower room. Satellite TV, DVD and CD player, 2 washing machines, 2 fridge freezers and 2 microwaves. It was well equipped for our needs.

I would book a James Villa in the future; the only complaint was that the two hired cars only came with third party insurance and we had to pay £120 and £150 non-refundable for fully comp or a large refundable amount of approximately 700 euro. We were advised to take the first option as every tiny scratch would be taken into account and it would have been hard to prove which were there before. We explained to the rep that this wasn't made clear at the time of booking and she said she would pass this on to Hertz again.

Otherwise a thoroughly enjoyable holiday, wish it had been 2 weeks!
