All plants arrived after six weeks dead. Poor communication in reply to emails. Do not buy from this company
After waiting six weeks for plants they arrived, and to my disgust. All plants were either rotten or broken. Emailed many times re delivery, but communication was terrible.
I have shopped with J. Parkers for a long, long time now and will continue to do so. I admit an occasional plant is not good but they ALWAYS replace or refund with no problem at all. Some plants are a bit small but they soon grow. They always answer my emails straight away and the plants have always been delivered very quickly. If you have a large garden to fill up, as I have been doing in the last few years after moving from a tiny garden, then it is the only way I can get loads of plants without breaking the bank. I am prepared to put up with a few bad ones (which are always successfully replaced) in order to get the volume of plants I need. Their half price offers are usually perfectly ok, and again if not they will replace of refund. If you buy plants in the Spring they actually give you until 1st August to report any failures. Their replies to my emails have always been very courteous. I deal with quite a few other mail order companies and there is one which shall be nameless, that is supposed to be VERY good but I have had some rubbish plants from them. Even though they replaced they still were not good. I will continue to buy from Parkers as I think they are very good value for money. Incidently I won first prize for my large garden in our town's competition in 2013 and was commended on my planting, a lot of which was bought from J.Parkers
Terrible plants arrived today, mostly dead or dying. No communication from company to say they'd been dispatched. Really, really disappointed with the quality. These are alpines so there's really no excuse at all for the state of them.Will never purchase from them again.
Bought £40 of plants - two Daphnes cost £12 each. All the plants (7 in total) are an utter disgrace . . . barely more than twigs in pots. The local garden centres would not be able to give any of them away for even £1.50 each. Rang the company - couldn't care less. Pointed out I have also ordered plants from other companies in the last few days but the plants from them have been in great condition and enormous (in 3 ltr pots). J Parkers are all in 9 or 10 cm pots. J Parkers plants all look like last year's herb starter pots - the sort you find in street markets garden centres. They give away plants with orders as if that somehow makes up for very inferior quality plants. Need to rethink their marketing strategy. WOULD DEFINITELY NOT USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN. I would like to add a photo of three plants that arrived today (including one of J Parkers) as that would illustrate 1,000 times more than words but I don't know how to do it!
Absolute waste of time - Do not use. Basically they do not despatch when promised, they ignore your emails, they make false promises for a revised delivery, they tell you the items are no longer in stock (by 2nd class letter when they have your email address & telephone number) and finally they make a refund for less than you originally paid. Simply THEY DO NOT CARE!Parkers are proud of their claim that they have been a long running family business well I'd suggest they pull their socks up if they plan on continuing this. Reputations are valuable and Parkers would do well to remember this. Some of us will never shop there again but eventually that number will grow so enjoy your ill gotten gains for now, you rip people off and can't expect any luck from your total lack of integrity.
I wish I had read reviews online before I ordered from this company. I rang a £54 order in and I can't believe the rubbish I have received ,the packing was disgusting along with a nice fat slug in with them, needless to say I had very little plants left. I did plant what was left but four have died within a week of planting ,I ordered three bougainvillea i have one left which is still struggling to take root . I will never ever use this company again and will warn everyone I know not to use this company. Mrs I Green Sheffield .
We had similar experience to a few others on here.
Got over excited by the lush colourful pictures on J.Parker bulbs website and ordered £130 worth of plants, a mix if bedding plants, climbers and fruit trees.
After waiting over a month with very little communication they informed me by email that items were dispatched. 3 days later on Friday evening after 6pm. A narrow tall box arrived all bashed up and with direction to keep the box. The courier looked confused and left promptly.
So initially I thought must just be 1 or a few items. We opened it and were shocked by how £110 of plants was crammed in to it. It looked so bad we had to laugh. The fruit tree was just a stick for £15, £10 clematis was a bashed up tiny seedling, others were dry leggy and dead looking plugs. It was horrific as we had waited so long and really wanted to fill the garden and opted for the continence of online delivery rather than just going to a local garden centre. We could have hand picked much better bigger plants for the same cost.
Stuck with what to do, being Friday evening, we decided to just plant these weedy little things out over the weekend and try call after the weekend. I sent an email with photos to which I had no reply until I sent another message. A generic message saying that their plants are in dormant state a will be fine when planted and a August guarantee, however if we are unhappy to send them back and they will refund. No mention of who pays the postage or how pack them up, etc. they know full well that most people will not want further inconvenience of repackaging and sending and waiting. So we like others have simply given up and planted this rubbish out, hoping for the best. Maybe we will get in touch in August with the progress?
We put and down to experience and will never do this again. Just support your local garden centre don't fall for the photos and prices(actually tbh the prices are too high for rubbish we received)
Please don't bother, companies should be able to get away with this poor service. I wish I could give no stars but site won't let me.

OK so I cannot say that I received prize specimens but I didn't expect to given what I paid. I did get a collection of Grasses and Ferns that will develop in to healthy plants over time and have been able to cover nearly 3x the area for the money I had to spend..... cannot say fairer than that. Granted, these are hardy plants but then it is up to you to work out what is likely to survive mail order!
I ordered my bedding plants as usual but this year they were a disaster. They were almost all damage by Parkers packers who did not take any care when packing the plants for posting on. The lids of the packaging had been shut in such a way that most of the plants were broken or damaged beyond repair. Worse still, the address labels had all been stuck on the BOTTOM of the package so, that when the courier was handling them, the plants were all upside down and falling out of the cells. Another problem was that the plants were all bone dry and badly wilted. Parkers say that all their plants are well watered before despatch but this was not the case with my order. The plants were of very poor quality and looked as if they had been forced under lights as the stems were very spindly and long, rather than short and thick. The ones that were not squashed could hardly stay up they were so thin. This has been a complete waste of money,(over £30), and Parkers should be ashamed at the very poor quality of plants they are sending out and charging so much for. They should look into the terrible way the plants are handled and packaged. I certainly will NEVER use, or recommend Parkers again.
I have now been waiting seven weeks for my order. There have been various excuses. First they said it had been delivered- which I was able to prove was a lie. Then they said it had been returned because my address was insufficient. My house has been here for 250 years. Finally another batch was supposed to have been sent, but I have given up waiting. Never once was I contacted first. Every time I contacted them I was sent a very polite- but very generic response. No-one seems to care. Even when I said I wanted my money back they didn't seem to care less. Yes their deals are good- but there is a reason they are too good to be true.
I ordered 3 plants from the company and was told that the two out of three items was no longer available 2 weeks after I received the only available plant. They were not willing to refund me the postage even though the majority of the plants were not available so it worked out very expensive to buy. (I ended up paying £9 for 12 plant plugs!) If I was told that 2 out of 3 plants were not going to be available that I would not have placed the order and wasted money on the postage. What's terrible about the company is that when I complained and tried reasoning with them, they still refused to refund me the postage. I understand that it's a small amount of money, but if it's a small amount of money, the company should be giving it back especially they went me a "sincere" apology letter.
I do not recommend this company & I now wish I had read the recent reviews, before wasting £25. Most of the plants were rotting when I unpackaged them and had had obviously been kept in complete darkness until they arrived 12 days after I placed my order. I have now sent 3 e-mails to the company and not had any response or acknowledgement. Most of the plants are now dead. I will not be wasting my money by buying anything from them again.
I ordered over £40 worth of plants from JW Parker in April 2012.The perennials weren't labelled and were sodden when they arrived and so far only 50% have grown.The hydrangea was shown on the website as a lush plant with large blooms and so far it is a stick with 3 leaves,The 3 hostas I ordered were a total disaster, they arrived wrapped in plastic and one was only soil with no plant in it. The other 2 have been garden centre rejects and have come up as very poor specimens with a stalk and stunted leaves.I have contacted Parker's and the response is tough, you will have to wait and see what comes up. I have sent them an email with photos attached and they haven't even replied.Do not deal with this company you are just wasting your money.
I bought a selection of plants from J Parkers last month: four blueberries, a Euonymus, a rhododendron and others. They arrived in a healthy condition and were well packed. The Euonymus was bare-rooted and had a healthy-looking root system. The others were in pots. The plants were small but I didn't expect anything bigger for that price, and also I wanted small plants because they will establish better in a summer with a hosepipe ban. There were only two things I think could be better. They say to allow 28 days for delivery. It would be good if they could give a dispatch estimate like Amazon does. I emailed them after 21 days and they said they would make my order urgent, and then they sent most of the plants immediately. I am wondering when I would have got them if I hadn't emailed. Also, the blueberries did not have labels on or in the pots. They are four different varieties but I do not know which is which. Better labelling would be helpful. I will definitely buy from them again.
