“ Website features thousands of song lyrics. „
"JustSomeLyrics.com" is a directory of songs and their lyrics. The website was known to be active as of the final quarter of 2008 and is slowly rising in popularity. Alexa traffic research states it is the 16368th most accessed website in the world. It receives an eclectic user base with 15.9% of users originating from computers in the United States. This figure is followed by 6.3% from India, 5.4% from Indonesia and 4.9% from Mexico. The United Kingdom provides 2.4% of the website's user base.
There are several lyric websites currently available on the Internet but I have yet to come across with one as minimalistic in approach as JustSomeLyrics.com. The website is composed primarily of a Google branded search bar and hyperlinks of numbers between 1 and 2500; divided in increments of 500. The links provide access to the database which doesn't appear to follow any sort of indexing rule. Clicking through the various numbers reveals an abundance of mixed artists and the lyrics to their songs, and locating a certain title could be down to pure chance.
For ease of use, I find typing in the embedded search bar provides quicker access to the appropriate title more quickly. There have, however, been many instances when using the search function doesn't yield appropriate results. I find I must be as specific as possible when attempting to find a song by typing in an exact artist and song name. Ambiguous search terms tend to yield varied results which often don't lead to the song I'm after. I have also had several search experiences where the title of my song in the database is not the actual artist's formatting. Songs containing titles which feature numbers and "txt speak" letter shortenings can often be very difficult to track down and I often find myself using another lyric or search engine service in aims of finding it.
Due to the JustSomeLyrics.com's minimalistic approach, which is no more than a series of links and a search bar on a white background, the website is very quick to load and respond. Independent testing suggests 1.1 seconds are required to load 3.7 KB when using a broadband connection. I have never been made to wait a great length when browsing the website but the actual search experience varies in its content quality.
Overall, JustSomeLyrics.com is a website I would be hesitant about recommending to prospective users. It is something which may suit a user who does not have an established website of choice, but is not something I would recommend switching to at this time.
