Kongregate is a community gaming website hosting thousands of flash-based games. Any user can submit games, as long as they conform to the rules of the website, so it is perfect for those just starting out making games to get feedback and tips, and even start earning money in tips from other users.

Most of the games are far more professional though, and whatever your taste in games, there are almost certainly many here that will impress you. If you are a fan of flash games, your favourites may already be there.

Probably the thing that stands out most about kongregate is it's innovative achievement system. Many of the games have badges or cards built into them to reward players. The difficulty varies significantly, so it caters to novices and expert alike. These allow users to gain points and level up. This makes the site very addictive, and if you are the competitive sort you will probably be trying to play all the games you can to achieve the highest level possible!

Another feature of the site is that whilst playing any game, there is a chat window alongside it. Some of the chat rooms are very friendly, and there are usually plenty of moderators, but it is often prone to trolling.

There is also a forum, where you can interact with others and discuss playing and creating games. It's a great place for budding game designers to find collaborators and assistance.

I can't recommend kongregate enough, but be prepared to lose hundreds of hours there!
