Advantages: easy way to screw someone's holiday

Disadvantages: you only know your booking is cancelled when you check in!

Never use last minute.com!!!!I wish I had surfed for reviews of this company before booking. I was tricked by their advertising. I had booked tickets for my sister (who lives in Canada, and I live in Hong Kong) to fly to Spain to spend the summer with us in Spain (we were flying in from Hong Kong). We made the booking in early may, 09, paid by credit card, our visa statement showed they debited us (the ticket was USD 1200), and we received 2 confirmations from them. My sister was scheduled to fly on July 27, 2009 and so she decided to try to check-in online on the 26th. To her shock, her booking was cancelled. She emailed them and asked what had happened. They said that they had sent me an email for credit card authorization and i did not return the email and so the booking was cancelled. They said for her to try to rebook everything again and that my credit card will be refunded. They did not send me any such email and they did not inform me that the booking was cancelled! My sister called the customer service (and someone actually picked up!) and asked for an explanation. They said that it was because I didn't return this authorization email! Luckily, she was able to contact me 3am hong kong time to tell me what happened (I was leaving that day with my family to spain!). I told her to rebook through another company if she can as we have no choice ( we were supposed to meet up at the airport to drive in together to our destination!). Luckily she was able to book through another company but at double the price!!!! She had taken 5 weeks holiday from work and was looking forward to this trip so really we had no choice but to buy whatever was available. I got my assistant to check on what happened the next day and they told her it was because the dollar amount was so large that they needed my sister's driver's license information for confirmation but my sister didn't reply the email so they cancelled everything. My sister did not receive any such email!!!! I think LMDC has no idea what they are doing and are just giving out whatever excuses they can think of. Coincidentally, they credited my visa on July 27, 2009...the day after the complaint was made. But who is going to pay for the difference of the more expensive new ticket? It was double the price! What I don't understand is why we had received 2 confirmations and debited credit card statements back in May when supposedly they didn't get any authorization reply from us? And why did they ironically debit us the day after they received the complaint? All in all, LMDC has made me wary of any bookings that can be done over the internet involving large amounts of money. We are handing this over to our lawyer to demand for compensation. Never ever ever use this company!!!!!!!

Summary: Lastminute.com=Last minute cancellations without notifying you. Sucker!!!!
