LondonTown.com is an old favourite of mine. It's been around for yonks, and it seems to have a page about every single thing there is in London.
It was looking a little outdated, but they seem to have refreshed it recently, though thankfully they haven't got rid of the funky people at the bottom of the screen. Their names sound a bit too cosmopolitan to me. No straight Janes or Flat Freds there. Anyway, I digress. I hadn't used LondonTown's hotel booking service before, but a christmas party last week dictated that an overnight stay in London was a good idea, so I gave LondonTown a whirl. It was a breeze - all the info at your fingertips really quickly, and a quick browse around the internet proved that the prices were really the best - they promise to pay 100 quid if you find the same thing cheaper on the same day. The best thing was the maps though. Click on the link to see where a hotel is, and you get this absolutely brilliant interactive map of London hotels - along with their price. They weren't using google maps - the maps had the famous landmarks clearly marked on it so you could tell which hotel was near to what. Anyway, job done.
My favourite bit of the site is the articles on the front page - crammed full of great recommendations for the best things to see and do in London. Life is too short for bad experiences. The site isn't perfect. It would be great if it remembered what you'd looked at, some of the pages are huge - so much information - perhaps too much at times - and they sometimes have more than one page for the same thing. Still, it's no wonder that their pages always come up highly in google. Give it a go if you're coming to the capital.
