Each book is written by several well traveled people. There are helpful volunteer suggestions and contact numbers and if you get a smaller city guide you get some very specific knowledge and tips. They are accurate in informing you on how much things will cost and are updated yearly so you will never turn up somewhere to find it no longer exists. This website is easy to use. The Lonely planet website supplies fantastic travel guides. Not overpriced. They are packed with information, maps and useful routes to take when going round a particular country. On the inside cover they have lots of quick information like conversions and how to say hello and thank you etc. The book is very accurate and trustworthy. Lonelyplanet.co.uk is, unsurprisingly, the webiste for Lonely Planet, a company founded by Tony and Maureen Wheeler after they travelled overland across Europe, through Asia, and to Australia, and wrote their first travel guide, which was called 'Across Asia On The Cheap'. That was over 30 years ago, and now Lonely Planet is famous for such guides. I am quite a fan of online travel sites, I have spent many an day wading through them all researching various trips. Lonely Planet really is the giant among travel guides in the printed form with only a couple of close rivals, but how does the website stack up? The homepage is well laid out and the first thing you see is the large and colourful header with a featured destination.
