Advantages: Convenience
Disadvantages: Disc lists
I've been a LoveFilm member for a few years now, and overall am reasonably happy with them. They offer packages for DVD/Game rental, and have recently launched a PAYG site. I have the 3 Disc Unlimited package, which allows me to have 3 discs out at the same time, and no limit to the number allowed during a month.
The discs come in envelopes, and are generally delivered within 2days of requesting them. LoveFilm are good with non-delivered discs, so if any get lost in the post, you don't get charged for them. This has happened a couple of times to me, and you just have to fill in a simple form. The returning of discs is also very simple, just using the prepaid envelopes. Recently LoveFilm seem to be discouraging returning discs seperately, trying to get people to return them in one envelope. You can request more envelopes from your online account if required, but I feel this is unnecessary hassle, as I guess it is intended to save them money, but you don't get any discount for doing it. Also, returning the discs in one go means you are without any discs for upto 3 days.
The online interface is simple and easy to use, and you are asked to compile a list of titles which you would like to watch. This is both good and bad, you can select the priority of your selections, but the more popular/newer titles can often be out of stock leaving you with your 3rd/4th choices. This can be a bit irritating, obviously not a problem if you manually selected your discs at time of rental.
Like I said, overall the service is pretty good, but I am always on the lookout for a better offer/service.
Summary: Not bad, but could be better

- 22/02/09 I agree! I'm on the '2 discs at a time' package and I find it a bit cheeky if I've sent discs back a couple of days apart and I get my next two together in one envelope. |
