Advantages: Plenty of choice

Disadvantages: Control - delivery, return and knowing what you are after is difficult

I joined Lovefilm.com through a link off of nectar and I had considered using them several times before

My doubts were whether we could make the most out of the dvd's and if we could afford it with everything else that has been going on recently

It was a very good promotional deal with 2 free Vue cinema tickets (hence how I managed to review the Angels and Demons) and 500 nectar points just for joining.

We had to pick 10 dvd's that we wanted to watch so we picked Quantum of Solace and Hancock among 8 others and I was e-mailed confirmation that they were on their way a couple of day after signing up which was pretty good.

They had a variety of packages to choose from and the one we considered was for 2 dvds at a time which was about £15 per month, and allowed us to watch 2 and post back together or if we wanted post one back watch the other which is probably th best way of managing it.

They have a large range of dvds and they do games as well, but we decided it was not the right time to use this service finacially.

It is also a little difficult choosing films when I already own well over 200, so it does become quite a problem. In saying that it is possible (though I expect very rare) for you to have a dvd on your list as one of your priority choices and still not get the dvd for months.

The dvds arrive in a packet slightly larger than the dvds themselves, and there doesn't appear to be any protection to avoid damage, once watched you basically tear off the outside cover of the packaging, reseal and post back - a very clever idea.

My only concern is keeping control of the dvds ie knowing when you send them back and what you're going to get. Overall though, it is defintely worth considering - and you can keep the dvds as long s you need to allow you time to watch. My only concern is that you have no proof that the dvds will arrive or that they will be received when you post them back - a bit like Britannia Music in that respect.

In our case we are no longer members, but it is not through choice, but financial reasons. I've rated them as 4* because there are some issues with the service, not with the dvd quality.

Summary: A good way of keeping your collection down to a managable level
