I am currently enjoying the Lovefilm service and would heartily recommend it to anyone. In this difficult time for me while I am between jobs and waiting for my third year at Uni to start, the films I am getting from them are they only thing keeping me sane!

Lovefilm is a film and game rental service that is ideal for lazy people like me, in that it sends the films to your door! No walking to town, wandering through the shop trying to decide what you want. It's all done over the internet.

There are 6 different packages to choose from, falling under two groups: Unlimited or Light Use. The Unlimited packages allow you to have either 1, 2 or 3 DVDs out at a time, with payments per month. The Light Use packages allow you to have a certain number of DVDs out per month, also with monthly payments.

It is very easy to rent films from Lovefilm. You log into their site and peruse their catalogue. Whenever you find a film you would like to see, click on Rent. This adds it to your Rental List, which you can view at any time. Once there, you can set films to High, Medium or Low Priority; this affects when the films will be sent out to you.

Lovefilm then post the films to you in little envelopes - be careful to follow the instructions on how to open them properly, as these envelopes double as the means for sending your films back! You can send up to 3 at a time in some envelopes.

In addition to being able to have films and games sent to you, you can also watch certain films online at their website. Some films are free to watch as they are covered by your subscription cost, some you must purchase on a pay-per-view basis.

There are only one problem I have encountered with Lovefilm. Firstly, you occasionally get a scratched disc; this is sadly common with all rental services. I have had two discs that did not play properly. Luckily, the procedure for reporting them faulty is simple, though this does not do much to alleviate the annoyance at finding you cannot watch the film you wanted.

Unfortunately, cancelling your package is not as easy as it could be for an internet-run service - you have to call them up to do it. Don't despair, though, for there is a way to turn this to your advantage. When I called to cancel my subscription, they offered me a special two-months-for-the-price-of-one deal that has proven to be quite excellent value. There are always deals to be made with any company that still wants your custom.

In all, Lovefilm is an excellent film rental service, with a simply MASSIVE DVD, Bluray and games catalogue. If you like your films to come to you, you can certainly do worse.
