I originally signed up to Lovefilm as there was a month's free trial. I had previously used Blockbuster but found the turnaround rather slow; I assumed all DVD rental places were going to be typically the same so didn't have high hopes.

It was very easy to sign up to Lovefilm and I was quite surprised with the large selection of films/TV shows/documentaries etc. They recommend you have at least 20 titles in your list and you can choose whether or not they are high, medium or low priority. There are a variety of packages you can choose from, anything from a couple of DVDs a month to unlimited DVDs and games for consoles. There is a package to suit everyone.

I received my first DVDs within a couple of days. I had requested the package of 3 DVDs at home at a time. At the time I was unemployed so watched them straight away and managed to send them back the same day. I was very impressed to find my account on the website updated the following day and to see that my next set of DVDs had already been dispatched. Sometimes it can be annoying if one of your high priorities is a very popular film/tv series etc, as you have to wait until they have it back in stock (they will send lower priority DVDs until then). On the bright side, if you wish to keep a DVD at home for weeks there are no late charges.

Although I was very happy with the service I couldn't afford to continue with it at the time. When I went online to cancel Lovefilm gave me a variety of options which included the cheaper options from £5.99 a month. When I declined this offer I managed to cancel online very simply. I find this is easier if you clear your title list and send the last DVDs back first (preferably Recorded Delivery just to cover yourself).

A few months later I received a gift code offering me another 3 months free if I returned to Lovefilm. Of course I took them up on their offer and this time I stayed on. It is much easier and convenient than going to a rental shop and the choice is massive. You can now also stream films online so don't even have to wait for your DVD to arrive. I find the package prices more than reasonable. When I was off work for a few weeks I couldn't afford to pay my subscription but Lovefilm give you a 'holiday' option, where you freeze your account, for up to 6 weeks which is very useful.

Overall I would strongly recommend Lovefilm to anyone; they are competent, reasonably priced and reliable.
