Advantages: Lycos stink - no advantages whatsoever

Disadvantages: they don't give a damn about customers

I'm another victim of Lycos' decision to shut down a whole section of webmail accounts with hardly any notice, no explanation and no help.
I'm furious! This is an enormous company with enormous resources, which has just decided to end everybody's account who had an england.com; ireland.com etc etc address.
The system used to be run by whowhere.com; which seems to have been swallowed by the Lycos giant and that name will now be used for it's people search facility
Part of what's making me so angry is that they didn't even tell us properly, a bodged email left us unsure if the whole service was being ended or whether we as individuals were being kicked off.
Why on earth they couldn't have offered us a longer grace period goodness knows. Why couldn't they offer an email forwarding system to us for a few months? It's not, after all, as though they were some two-bit company that just couldn't afford the space
I certainly wouldn't go to them for my email account now. Or any company that they had anything to do with in any way.
I'm now without email, and am having to 'camp' at a friend's address. I shall be avidly scouring the reviews for a new provider!
