The Merriam-Webster Online dictionary offers an easy and much more convenient way (to me that is, though some of you may argue that it is much easier opening that dictionary beside you) to search for the meaning of a word. You simply key in the word , press enter and presto, its meaning is presented to you. Next to the Dictionary, there is a Thesaurus service which provides valuable acronyms for that word we have used umpteen times in the same paragraph. This is personally very useful to me. I must admit I am one of those people (surely I am not the only one?) who are much too lazy (inertia probably) to lift out my thick and heavy Dictionary when I come across a new word on the Internet. I thought it would be perfect if I could check the meaning online, so I did a search and found Merriam Webster at www.m-w.com/dictionary.
