I'm clearly going against popular opinion here but I don't think Excite provides that great an email service. I have tried several different email providers over the years. My needs are simple: a simple address, adequate file space and reliable access. Sadly, Excite have let me down on the latter. I have experienced a number of problems accessing my excite account. Now this is what I call a decent E-mail service provider ESP! It has a cool e-mail address, you have the ability to personaluise your start page to make it look like you want it to and you also have unlimited cool options, whjich they are currently adding to all the time! I have had an account here for three years or more. It is the best kind of totally portable mail box, I have never had unwanted (spam) mail and only once (during the I LOVE YOU) virus has it been unavailable (without previous notice). You can choose to have excite.com or excite.co.uk as your start page, and there is an icon on that page that lets me know immediately when I have mail.
