I'm currently compiling a list of social bookmarking networks and checking out all of the sites one after another in order to work out which ones I'd like to submit my site too. The name maple.nu immediately sounded a little suspect to me, call me traditional but I like a .com unless it is country related. Maple.nu works the same way as Digg, one of the benefits is that the code to add the icon to your blog is extremely easy to find. Maple require you to register as most sites of the type do, it doesn't take long and there's not hundreds of questions.

Maple.nu initially looks like a bit of a graveyard and I didn't know what to make of the fact that there was a lot of content but it was submitted almost 7 hours ago. I've come to the conclusion that this is a one-man or at least just a few operation and they are manually checking the submissions. I've noticed that it seems common for people to submit just about every story/article on their blog to this bookmarking site but at the same time they do actively combat spam and do not accept some of the casino or porn related rubbish that other sites accept.

The domain is not blessed, the site looks awkward but is actually quite user-friendly and it definitely isn't high up my list of places to submit your links too but it's also not the worst. Whether it brings much traffic, I'm yet to find out, as someone who enjoys reading the bookmarked site.. I don't think this place has an awful lot to go on.

Summary: A pretty poor social bookmarking site
