The new flash infested fast-food website.

Advantages: Store locator, helpful information, contact us pages
Disadvantages: Store locator not always 100% accurate, Flash usage is really annoying.
Flash seems to be a disease lately, infecting websites and making them un-iPad friendly. McDonalds is the latest website to go for the flash makeover and while it has worked to some extent, it has made things a bit more confusing. I find the new layout a bit all over the place; hovering over the various food items in the main page menu just makes them bounce around uncontrollably. It doesn't look too good quite frankly.
The site has however kept it's old food menu's at the left hand side, and they display helpful information about their food products. They do like to boast about their 100% British Beef, and rightly so after the horsemeat scandal, it's good to know these guys are unaffected. (The use their own abattoirs)
The website does give a lot of information that you can't normally find in the stores. Sometimes their leaflets about what's in each wrap of the day are not available, but online you can simply print this information out. They have their nutritional information guide on here too. I personally find this more helpful than their in store advertising about healthy eating, as the website explains what calories are, how to burn them etc. Simple information but interesting to read.
The website does have a nutrition calculator rather than a nutrition table or board like they do in store. Note that the calories for men and women are different so bear this in mind. There are some helpful pages on the locations of stores and their contact details (including times to contact them by phone) but to find the numbers for exact stores you need to click on store locator to find their details. Sometimes these are not 100% accurate, and address locations are approximate when entered into a sat nav.
I have never experienced downtime with the McDonalds website, but their McDonalds monopoly offshoot website last year did crash, and this was simply due to a high volume of traffic. Browsing the website is fast and glitch free. I have yet to find a typo or a glitch in the site, and most pages load with ease. Servers aren't running on empty at peak times and their site isn't the victim of DDoS attacks or any denial of service issues for that matter.
Overall a great website with much more information than the in-store informational material. I recommend giving their site a quick read if you're interested in what you're eating, and the store locator is a very easy to use feature.
Summary: A good website for gathering i formation or learning about what you're eating.
