The main reason for this isn t to do with streaming speed or the quality of programmes available, but more the adverts. While it s great to see that so many programmes are jumping on the online catchup bandwagon, and that most programmes on the terrestrial channels can now be watched at our convenience for a few days or weeks after the show, the fact that we have to sit through numerous ads at the same time is a bit annoying. Similar in concept to the BBC s Iplayer, ITV s equivalent the unremarkably named ITVPlayer offers viewers the chance to watch shows that they may have missed from any of the 4 ITV stations. Personally I think the network gets a lot of undeserved criticism and that it s important to have an impartial media broadcaster that isn t owned by somebody with a particular political or social motive.
