If you are nosy or like a cheap thrill you will like this site. I certainly do!

The site is run by the same people who have created ‘metacrawler’, which is a search engine just like google or excite etc. However, this gives you a behind the scenes look; you are that policeman behind the two way mirror in the interrogation cell. You are able to look at the searches that are currently being made by others on the metacrawler engine.

By this stage, I am absolutely fascinated. The page refreshes every 15 seconds and I kept finding myself thinking ‘I will just look at one more selection’. Ten minutes later I was still glued to the screen!

Ten searches are shown at any one time and each one has a link so that you too can find out where to find the ‘history of the thong bikini’ (that was a real one, honestly!).

METASPY EXPOSED

The same as traditional metaspy but this shows the results unfiltered. This seems a little bizarre at first as you still get entries such as ‘outlook express’ and ‘cheap dvds’ but some more ‘adult’ searches are also interspersed.

hes. Some were rather disturbing and probably highly illegal. To protect children from these more outrageous elements prior to accessing metaspy exposed you are given a warning about the possible content and a statement that you are over 21 years of age. You then have to click on an ‘I agree’ link to actually access the information.

LAYOUT

The site is extremely easy to use and well laid out. The home page simply consists of two icons to click on to take you to either metaspy or metaspy exposed. Metaspy’s icon is a green Sherlock Holmes and the exposed’s icon is a green Sherlock Holmes who is flashing (luckily for us with his back to the screen).

There is also a link to the metacrawler search engine itself. However, after knowing what I do now, I am not sure I would ever use it. Remember – Big Brother is watching you.
