Advantages: More functionality than earlier versions.
Disadvantages: As above.
Now, in theory, one of the best things about ICQ 2000, in my opinion, is the Activelist function. For those of you running older versions of ICQ, this gives you the ability (I'm simplifying) to add a contact category that is dynamic - based on a shared interest, and allows others to join the group. The thing is, it has to be put online by a particular ICQ user, and only works when that user has their server running. Great if it's someone with free net access by cable in the US, not great if it's someone with a phonebill who connects now and again. In addition, Activelist is prone to crashing (server-side). If you've got the invalid page fault problem, I can solve it - go into your Activelist folder in the ICQ directory, and select the "repair database" option. Now, for me - I'm on a LAN (a fake one, well, a house network) and activelist *will not* recognise the outside world. It'll go online (looks online from my ICQ), it'll let *me* connect, but this isn't true for anyone else. If anyone can fix it, comment away! jdcxxx
