Martin Lewis is a money saving guru! You probably recognise him from various consumer programmes, or you may have come across one of his books, but if you don't know who he is and you haven't visited moneysaving expert then do so now!

When the credit crunch hit I found that I needed to watch the pennies more than ever and this site has shown me lots of ways to save money.

At the top of the home page you will see lots of taps with different words on. There are taps entitled: car loans; reclaim 1000's; shopping spending; utilities phones; banking saving; travel transport; insurance; mortgages houses; family and health; protect your pocket; and forum.
Each of these tabs leads to a page with specific advice, for example: the 'reclaim 1000' tab will provide you with information on:

* Reclaiming your bank charges;
* Reclaiming PPI;
* Council tax re-banding;
* Private parking tickets; and
* Rejecting credit card rate hikes.

All the information is useful and it is definitely worth going on the website if you are experiencing financial difficulties, or you are having problem with a financial provider.

From the website you can also sign up to a weekly e-mail which contains a list of freebes and the latest deals to save you money - it is definitely worth signing up.

Although the whole site is full of hints and tips, I personally find that the best aspect of this site is the forums. I am not usually one for writing on message boards, but I love the moneysavingexpert forums. If I ever have a problem, or I am looking for a way to save money then I always go to that part of the website. It is nice to see people going out of their way to provide help and advice to others. At end of the day, a lot of people are suffering financially and it's nice to know you can go somewhere for friendly advice when you need it.

Signing up to the forums (so you can comment) is free and easy and the people who use the site are very helpful, if you ask a question then you are bound to receive a response within a few hours because so many people use the site.
