Advantages: could be a good earner, lots of reads
Disadvantages: too early to tell if worthwhile
www.mouthshut.com is yet another opinion site to emerge, it is an Indian based site , however on close inspection you will see it has various similarities to Ciao and Dooyoo. Registration is easy and you get the profile and website links and of course the upload photo too. Now it has all the expected features that we rely on so much, such as the familiar trust circle, and here there is the added feature of a circle of mistrust, so any churners or dodgy members you find can be popped into this for all to see. A really good feature I found was that you can choose to be notified by email every time your opinion is read or commented on and also every time someone in your trust submits a new opinion, the latter I would like to see Ciao adopt too as find it very useful. Also you get to add to each topic whether you like it or dislike and this is viewable on your profile. Topics reviewed are rated as either high or low ranking and this is also very clear to see when you choose a particular opinion to read. As I said it is Indian however anyone can join from the UK or other countries and they are currently in the process of sorting this out to enable transactions for the UK etc. The catagories are listed on the front page and again most that we are used to are included, there is also the option of requesting new ones if yours Is missing, here also are the star writers and the latest 35 opinions are on view. There is one small drawback here though. so hold your horses a minute before you dash to sign up, you cannot copy your opinions from Ciao, Dooyoo or anywhere else for that matter onto this site, its terms and conditions state this clearly, however they don’t mind you using one that you have written to post somewhere else. However I find that if you have written on a subject once that it is easy enough to play around with it and alter it to satisfy this criteria. Now the b
it you are waiting for. Payment…ahem! Right there is none!!, well not actually cash anyway, you receive points instead, these I will cover next, but the other downfall here is that you need to be a member using the site for 6 months before you are eligible to cash them in. These are awarded at various levels At Registration : 10 Writing a review : 05 Reading a review : (When other members read your review) 02 Rating a review : (When you rate other members reviews) 01 By Referrals : (Each time you recommend MouthShut.com to a friend or relative and he/she uses your ID as reference) 10 By Commission : (Of the member who used your ID as reference.) 5 The current minimum for spending them is 600, but it seems to tick over well, I had 45 just for my first review, however not sure exactly how much that works out at , as they have yet to be running long enough to offer rewards. When these rewards become available you will get to exchange your points for gifts etc, so time will tell.

- 22/05/01 I thought I'd give it a go. You didn't mention the spell checker, this is a minor irritation as it highlights correctly spelt product names. |

- 22/05/01 I signed up with mouthshut a while ago and posted a couple of opinions, I still get the odd email telling me someone has read them, but other than that I dont bother with it now. I might pop over there and see what my account balance is doing! |
