8 months I have been a member of mouthshut opt mouthsh*t as we like to call it in the ciao UK group.

For those who don’t know, let me give you a brief insight into www.mouthshut.com

A similar web site to Ciao and Dooyoo, mouthsh*t is based in both India, where her roots firmly bed, and also in Virginia, U.S.A.

I received an email from some chap called Jimmy I think, inviting me o join this new web site.

On investigation, I found mouthsh*t to be a friendly, if not amateurish looking site.
And decided to join.
There were a few “catches” though, with rules that stated “All work posted on mouthsh*t may not be posted anywhere else and becomes the property of mouthsh*t”.

Easy to get round though, I just posted my work here first, and then posted it at mouthsh*t, so as not to break their rules!

Another rule they had was that you had to be a member for 6 months before you could get paid.
Now this didn’t bother me.
The reason why this didn’t bother me was simple.
Around that time, Ciao and Dooyoo were besieged by churners and cheats to an unbelievable level.
Keith, Brian and myself were catching something like double figures every day.

So I thought this would discourage cheats, as they were there to make a quick buck, not as a long-term future investment.

Despite the concern from established members here, I decided to give it a shot.

Now the method of payment at mouthsh*t had not yet been decided, but you earned what they call MS Points (now understand it means Maybe Someday Points!)

These are awarded for you activity and so forth for both submitting and reading work, another good idea I thought.

So off I went and started po
sting away.

I noticed quite a few other members from Ciao and Dooyoo there, and soon built up a large Trust and averaged a good amount of reads.

Now that is the story of mouthsh*t.

Here is the nightmare ending!

September came, my 6 months were up, and I smiled as I saw I had some 3000 ms points to cash in.
Looking through my profile, account etc, I could find no way of cashing in these points, so I emailed mouthsh*t for advice.

NOTHING

No reply, no cheque is in the post,

NOTHING

So I emailed them again.

NOTHING

Did I get an acknowledgement then?

NOTHING

I was getting a bit annoyed now, but I was going on holiday, so I though I would leave this until I returned.

2 weeks later, I came back from America to over 100 emails, what did I have from mouthsh*t

NOTHING

All in all I sent some 20 plus emails asking for at least some form of acknowledgement, and what did I get?

NOTHING

Enough was enough, it was obvious to me after two months of trying to get money from them I posted an opinion on their web site yesterday about mouthsh*t telling everyone they don’t pay and asking moutsh*t to prove me wrong by contacting me to sort it out.

They have now sorted it out!

They have cancelled my account and I can’t log in.

Therefore 8 months of membership down the drain.

Those people on here who know me, will know that my work is of a decent standard and rarely less than two pages long, so I feel very annoyed, almost used, by a shady back street website boasting to be a community site.

This site is nothing more than a scam, which could upset a lot of people in many ways.

Just think, if they don’t pay you and promise this that and the other, who else do they give your information to?

I somehow feel that India do not have the same strict guidelines on D
ata Protection that we have over here.

Another put of at mouths*t is that despite my making them aware of numerous cheats and even people who were copying other work from Ciao and Dooyoo and pasting it over there, they did nothing about it!

So maybe we only a few pennce a read here, but at least we get it!

My advice to anyone who is a member on mouthsh*t is simple, go there now and delete all you opinions, as it is free advertising for a tuppence happeny web scam.

Make other people aware that they rip you off.

Leave with you head held high.

Don’t let yourself be scammed like I have been.
