mp3.comNewest Review: ... 4000 plays every month just to break even. With the huge number of artists on mp3.com (around 170 000), most people will never make this amount. This is leading to a mass exodus of artists and boycott of mp3.com. I realise that most people reading this review are reading it to find out about mp3.com as a service to get music rather than one to get yours hosted as an artist, but this is going to affect you too. Many talented artist will be leaving the site and going elsewhere. Those who are left will mainly fall into three categories: The Cheats: These are not worth listening to and are only making money by cheating the system Commercial ... more |

As an mp3.com artist, I feel obliged to write an opinion on it here in Dooyoo. Most people have limited or no experience of the mp3.com site and those who do probably no little about how artists are paid for their work. It's not as great for the artist as you may think. Previously, artists on mp3.com were paid roughly between 1 and 3 pence per play of their songs. A couple of days ago however, mp3.com changed the rules. As from October the first, artists are going to become subject to the great mp3.com rip off. Artists will now get paid half a cent per play. And, I hasten to add, to be entitled to get this half a cent per play, you have to be part of the ... Read the complete review

This is another one of those sites sort of like audiogalaxy and napster. Were you can download, for free, mp3’s. All of the mp3 that you can download are from artist and bands who are not signed to any record companies, so what you are downloading is ok and not illegal and. This means that are not any major bands, groups or artist’s on this site that you can download. This then means that it is extremely difficult, at times, to find the song or bands that you want to download. But some of the artist are put into charts which makes it easier to find. The charts are determined by how many people have downloaded the songs. Once you find the song you ... Read the complete review

All is not as you think it is. mp3.com is not the nice happy place for getting free music that you seem to think it is. Just check out the messageboards on the site. Mp3.com charts Well, the charts are definetely not the place to go if you are looking for a place to find good music. Many artists in the top40 of their genres are not there through there own merit. They are there because they cheat. Mp3.com recently introduced a system to check the ip addresses of who is playing whos songs. Do you think that one ip address, ie. oneperson downloading the same song hundreds or thousands of times per DAY by a well known artist is real. Of course its not! ... Read the complete review

Im in a new band called Vinyl Elektra (check out my web site chums! www.ineedaband.co.uk) . We are trying hard to get heard all over the world at the moment with as much coverage as possible. Having your song on Napster is very good as is sending untold amounts of demos off to record companies. But how about having it on a dedicated site where people interested in unsigned bands and new bands can go and have a listen themselves? Well thats is where MP3.com are going to help me out I hope. I signed up for them last week inthe hope of getting our newly-demoed tracks online and into the homes of people the world over. Sign up ... Read the complete review

One of my hobbies is mooching round looking for obscure bands. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a mainstream hater, I like a lot of mainstream bands. But for me, finding a new band with original music is an exciting experience (You may now call me sad if you wish, I don’t particularly care). Finding obscure signed bands is actually quite hard, my normal technique is looking for side projects of less obscure bands – recent finds have included ‘Colorfinger’ ‘Fear of Pop’ and ‘Secret Chiefs 3’. Finding unsigned bands though is much easier. Especially with websites like www.peoplesound.com promoting unsigned bands. ... Read the complete review
