MusicFearSatan is a French music distributor that caters to fans across a wide spectrum of rock/metal subgenres. Its catalogue is split into a number of seperate subsections each covering covering a small range of closely related genres, which go from lighter material in the categories of rock/folk, prog rock/kraut rock, indie rock/math rock, emo/screamo and drone/ambient/electro through to the heavier post rock/post metal stuff and finally onto punk/hardcore/crust, stoner/sludge/doom, metal/grindcore/death metal and also black metal. This system works well in that it allows the site to cover a wide number of musical bases without forcing buyers to wade through large quantities of material they may not be interested in.
MusicFearSatan stock a wide range of cds, but I tend to find that I can pick a lot of these up cheaper on ebay or from amazon sellers, as they are not particularly cheap at around 13 EUR each plus postage. MusicFearSatan's main appeal is its extensive range of vinyls, many of which are strictly limited in quantity. Again, these are not particularly cheap after postage but the site makes up for this by having a wide catalogue full of new and often hard to find releases and by offering postage discounts on larger orders. They also stock a number of music DVDs and tshirts, but these are largely limited to a much smaller range of titles. Their customer service is also excellent, being both friendly and reliable- my items have always arrived promptly and when once when an item was damaged in the post they quickly sent out a replacement to me free of charge.
The website itself is very professional looking and easy to navigate, with a simple 'purchase basket' system similar to Amazon's, and you can choose from a number of postage options after choosing your purchases, such as priority airmail, registered mail and so on. They accept credit cards and there's also a telephone hotline and an online msn contact address should you wish to communicate with them in real-time. They also have their own self-titled record label, which is still quite small and puts out stuff in the post rock/sludge/experimental noise vein.
MusicFearSatan is not the cheapest music distributor of its kind around, and whilst fairly small its a very professionally run company that will prove invaluable to vinyl collectors on the lookout for limited new releases.
